Before everyone gets overheated, the wording of this is important. It is merely 'considering' revocation, this means it is by no means a foregone conclusion. Another issue is that there is no date, so we don't know how long the 28-day cooling-off period has run.

Also, I noted a couple of "Typos" in it. Is it genuine?

I suspect its a wind-up, so its removal is for the best until verified. I wouldn't have thought people in the offices of the various TOCs receiving such a letter would have time to post a facsimile of such a document online, let alone on a lineside photography forum. If there is any development, we'll hear about it in good time from the proper sources.

I think it is indeed best to wait for official confirmation of something which we are not sure about. A note of caution though. When the news started to break about the SPAD and Wootton Bassett and people pointing the finger of blame at WCR, there was, and quite understandably, those who said we should wait and not to prejudge matters on such a serious incident. It seems we are in the same situation here with those doubting what someone has posted about the ORR. I just hope this doesn't replicate that sequence of events to such a point whereby the "poster" says, I told you so.

    Maybe or maybe not........

There's a guy posting on a certain face ache group about all this, and his post last week said that everything would be decided by Friday........... its now Monday, and nothing official has yet been said, only what has been mentioned as "possible speculation"......... until something official is announced, that's all it is - and that is what we're all waiting for - and from the silence from NR, I can see this going to the wire......

“This is a crisis. A large crisis. In fact, if you got a moment, it's a twelve-story crisis with a magnificent entrance hall, carpeting throughout, 24-hour portage, and an enormous sign on the roof, saying 'This Is a Large Crisis'. A large crisis requires a large plan. Get me two pencils and a pair of underpants.”

Also, perhaps, it should have had the telephone number and e-mail address blacked out before posting, we don't need anyone further upsetting the ORR.

Whilst the date of this "letter" is concerning as it is last Friday (2 days after RTC's statement about the great Britain). This looks like ORR agreeing with NR that the WCR SMS needs improving. A satisfactory response to NR's letter (point 4 is the most pertinent I think) might well resolve ORR's concerns.

I'm not sure what you have been party to , but what was briefly shared was simply text , no letterhead nor signatory , hence our concern at its legitimacy

The attachment to post 787 that I saw was indeed just text, but it did contain details that were inadvisable for an open forum. I'm glad it was removed so quickly. It's all very well clamouring for information but we must be careful not to provide those less scrupulous than ourselves with an opportunity to inflame the situation.

Suggest you contact the Railway Herald and ask them about it as they are responsible for posting it.

Would a magazine such as them publish such an article if it wasn't true?
I know people slag SR off & call it The Beano, but however....

    Yes please!

No doubt various parts of face ache are currently heading to maximum froth............... oh the "joys" of "social" media!

Until I see something official from the Horse's mush ie NR or the ORR, then all it is speculation, as GFG's attachment, unless corroborated is just that (no offence GFG!), so all we can do is sit and wait for something in that manner.

Time for this thread to go into slumber for a while methinks........
