Not sure if this is the right messageboard to post in, but....
I was just wondering idly whether anyone has spotted any shots on Google Streetview of steam locos in operation? There are lots of places where roads run alongside or cross heritage railways.

As the street view camera was passing the entrance to Barton Hill depot the front end of 6024 could be seen. With the smokebox door open, the view included the (clothed) backside of a support crew member disposing of the char! More recently this street scene has been updated - with 5029 on the depot.

I should have thought of this one! What a wonderful spot... And a lovely England too.
I especially like the way Google has obsured the nameplate too - like they have to with car numberplates. Not sure how effective this is in obscuring the identity in this case!

Going off on a slight tangent, I wonder if Google (or anyone else) have given thought to TrackView to go alongside StreetView with the cameras mounted on trains? I appreciate the National Network might be a no-go as I believe the vans used on the streets go slowly but it could certainly work on preserved lines.

    I've found some more.
Bury on the East Lancs Railway. If you "drive" the Google car up and down the car park you can watch the train coming into the station.

Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway, I hope they have got a ticket for the car park.

Interesting if you move around the car park you can see the locos quite clearly in some pictures and blocked by coaches which presumably arrived as the filming took place. Also there appears to be a car park attendant approaching the Google car in one shot.
