Suggest that we all chill out a bit and ease off on the rampant speculation please.

If you go back to the original NR letter there were seven points on it , five of which had to be concluded by the 15th May , two of which required material progress by that date

Some of the requirements also need what I'll suggest is some form of engineering solution which will inevitably take time to agree upon.

Clearly both NR and the ORR have a process that needs to be followed within a notified timeframe . Once that concludes then we will know more about the outcomes and next steps . In the meantime meetings will be taking place between the ORR, WCRC and NR to try and resolve these issues and create a compliant mode of working going forward .

AT least a bit of information form a reliable source of this parish, Ben from VT has just posted this in their thread...

'Our Train Operating Company (TOC) of choice, West Coast Railways (WCRC), has informed us that Network Rail’s temporary suspension of their operating licence will not be lifted prior to the 15th May, 2015.The suspension was due to no action of fault by Vintage Trains, however we were deeply affected. Although we have been advised that the earliest WCRC could possibly return to running our trains is 15th May, this does pose a significant problem.'

Off topic I know (sorry), but since it has been raised....
Couldn't the GCR run, say, one or two "expresses", maybe just on weekend or gala days. That way the visitor would get a fuller experience, the stopping train would give a longer ride, while the express would offer the experience of a main line steam run with the locomotive stretching its legs a bit? No idea what the needs and costs of gaining approval would be though.

    Just a thought.

Forget it. The derogation to run at 60mph was only obtained on the express (pardon the pun) understanding that the railway was closed to all other traffic and the train carried only essential personnel. There is precisely nil chance of doing this during a gala.

Occasional trains would make the cost of fitting TPWS to both the line and the relevant locomotives even less worthwhile. It would however reduce the regularity of needing stewards supervising the use of door bolts on the train.

Which is why all the regulations and laws need putting in the bin.

Please tell me this comment is a wind up! Or are some people determined to try and prove that railway enthusiasts are a threat to themselves and everyone else!

RTC have been badly let down by their main supplier, it's not something they could have foreseen. When NR dropped the bomb WC management IMO gave out false optimistic signals, RTC were I suspect at that time in a panic, their flagship UK tour was heading for disaster and they were trying to salvage what they could and keep customers satisfied. RTC didn't seek this. WC have let them and many others down.
I've used RTC in the past and always been satisfied.
