the delay repay is theoretically DBS to pay NR as they are now the TOC - but the amount is capped for steam tours i think (don't quote me here) to under five or ten thousand pounds - the other TOC's are liable to much much more if track delays are their fault

A bit of interest for the passengers, being banked by a coal train can't happen every day.

No. The TOC takes the penalty hit. They can opt to surcharge private loco and coach owners if the delay is caused by the private owner rolling stock.
Could be messy if the WCR stock has broken the 67 though! (No idea how that would happen)

No idea what forecast you're looking at Roger?!?

The BBC website says 8-15 degrees and only a small amount of rain on Sunday?

The buck will stop with DBS as they are the TOC operating the train, on their own Track Access Agreement (west coast's TAA is currently suspended). It was their loco that fell down unfortunately....

Must have been a slow shove as the coal train was only say 5mins behind the train but it took nearly an hour and twenty mins to get the 67 into Grayrigg loop .Mind you its a fair load to push and pull .

If the 67 was dead than that must have been quite a load to shove?

Edit - Just seen on The Works that the coal train was a load of empties.

With no through braking from the loco providing the assistance, the move would have been restricted to 5mph!

How is a Freightliner 66 unable to couple to a mark 1 coach?

Well the Freightliner 66 has a hook and screw coupling and some have a swing over buckeye both of which are compatible with a mrk1.

One thing the above photo shows is how shiny the WCRC mrk 1s are, seeing them depart Victoria on tuesday I originally thought they had all been repainted but it looked more like polished…. the staff really must be kicking there heels!

Bloody hell! You couldn't make this up. GB VIII will go down in preservation history for all the wrong reasons unfortunately.

I'd argue the toss on that one if I was WCRC, hardly their fault DBS has 67's in ropey condition is it.
