The original diagram showed all possible additions to the signalling as to maximise the lever frame fitted.
I believe the track will be laid in stages, hopefully the northern end as the diagram as we have no access from the north and it will be easier to lay final version and head back south. However recent communication has indicated that a simple loop arrangement may well be fitted without siding and with the double track/running loop to the south also omitted. Time and money will tell! The loop will be initially made up from the turnouts transferred from Laverton, track through station will presumably be on timber, type of rail unknown as yet.
Track laying south at Laverton is delayed but track bed preparations between Little Buckland and Peasebrook bridge continue.

Well I took your advice and emailed the chairman as you suggest. That was a couple of days ago so far nothing.

I also posted a query about this matter on the Boardroom blog and it was deleted unanswered.

The Broadway Blog is now being moderated and unwelcome posts deleted.

Big Brother rules at Broadway it seems.

Your boardroom blog post has appeared now, it takes a while as comments there have to be authorised and the blog (to my annoyance and disappointment) is not used very much any more. I'm not sure about police state, uf Bill would rather such comments didn't appear on his blog then thats his decision. Hopefully you will receive a reply from the chairman soon, I know other people have been more successful. Perhaps he's been busy over the bank holiday, he's only a volunteer like the rest of us.

Moving forward, slates are now being placed on the signal box roof at Broadway and, yesterday, the brick platform wall (Platform 2) at Cheltenham Race Course Station was completed. (Still quite a lot to do before Platform 2 is available for use but this is tremendous progress considering the Platform 2 team are mainly Broadway project volunteers!)

At it's best the GWSR is brilliant - but it is not consistent IMG_0741-01c.jpg

That's a great photo michaelh, thanks for reminding us what the GWSR looks like on a sunny summer's day (even though the loco would look even better with some full-size Triang Clerestories!).

The Broadway Blog now seems to have disappeared completely! You only have to look at the seriously cash-strapped Nene Valley Railway buildings at Wansford, Ferry Meadows, Orton Mere and Peterborough NVR to see how a railway that is still trying to buy what I think is the most beautiful station building available to a Heritage railway, the 1845 Livock-designed Grade 2 listed Wansford building, can compromise the character of an historic line. I am not blaming them for this, but Broadway is a more attractive and better-known tourist destination than Yarwell Junction, which is the only preservation era building that looks vaguely 'right' in my opinion. I would urge spending more on a quality building that is in character and complements the excellent work done at Broadway so far. It doesn't look as if there would be a shortage of willing donors, judging by the posts to this forum.

Hopefully the volunteers still working at Broadway will use the new blog set up for their use by Bill. So far there nothing has appeared, and presumably there was a working day on Wednesday.

The continuing volunteers need to try and keep the project in the public domain, if for no other reason than keeping people up to speed if there is to be a semi-formal appeal for funds to cover any additional costs of a revised station building.
There is a "Wednesday" update from Broadway at the foot of the latest crcp2 blog. Excellent, thanks for the update Jo.

Although apparently no longer available via the GWSR website, the "crcp2" blog is still there and updated.

The Broadway blog is still there - it's just archived now and it is no longer accepting any more comments or being updated. The archive of the blog is here

Is the bric a brac shed open only during working days at Broadway, presumably Wednesdays? Trying to work in a visit to the Broadway station site as part of madam wanting to visit Hidcote gardens....

Normally open on volunteer working days only, Wednesdays & Saturdays. Julie normally there on Wednesdays and Jim on Saturdays. There is a new shed being commissioned at the moment, as the old sheds are on the footprint of the new station building and they have to be removed so footings can be dug.

    Thanks for the info.

Is there still a public viewing area or viewing platform, I recall seeing it in some of the photos on the website.

Yes there is, it is opposite the signal box and is opened when the volunteers are working on a Wednesday & Saturday. If you speak to one of the volunteers, you might even get a guided tour, if they are not too busy, but would need to wear hi-viz and a hard hat, which they can supply.

Also, its worth a look in our bric-a-brac shed, lots of railway books and non rail related items for sale.

    ropley waiting room.jpg

Just a nice picture from Ropley to remind ourselves what the preservation movement is capable of when Management confides in the skilled volunteers every line has and lets them excel for the benefit of all, enthusiast and visitor alike.

    Perfect!

On a slightly more downbeat note the Broadway station website

    http://www.broadwaystation.co.uk/

, a companion to the Blogspot is now down as well. A pity as it had a lot of old pictures of Broadway and a live webcam of the signal box.

    Hello,
Where does the Signaller/Slinger come from? The crane Comp or the Railway?
