Or is it? No sign on movement on that RTT link yet. I know it's not 100% accurate but if you do a detailed search the movement doesn't show either.

A few shots of D9009 passing through the mess, sorry building site that is the GWML, at Iver this evening - replete with winged thistle.

Nice photo, not horrifically over photoshopped. Mind you they can get that horrible weed off the front, its running in England.

    Why ?

Of the 393 miles run by the Flying Scotsman, 336 of them were in England - or does England not count any more ?

This LE move started in England and finished in England. The tour is doing will start in England and finish in England. The loco is not jockish it was built in England. Its named after an English racehorse. Now, do tell, why should it have a weed on the front?

That "weed" is the finest headboard to ever grace a Deltic in BR service and I'm not even Scottish.

It looks like a set of steer horns on the front of a texan cadilac.

    Why not?
If Mr knowwun is commenting "tongue in cheek"......fair enough......a bit of fun. If not I can't believe somebody would/could get the hump about a locomotive headboard AND a headboard that was widely used on various locomotives back in the day.

He is. But imagine the outcry if someone stuck an "Atlantic Coast Express" headboard on a trip to York up the ECML!!!!!

We've had the "Royal Scot" headboard on an ECML trip and don't recall any outcry and I doubt the ACE would ruffle too many feathers either.

Where does the ECML go? Ok maybe its the wrong side, but the right country.

Edit, Tho was there ever anything "royal" about Glasgow?

It all comes back to if the owners/tour operators want to stick a headboard on then that's their prerogative.......

Thistle surprise you perhaps but the iconic images of Deltics are of the Flying Scotsman with its Thistle headboard; the Thistle headboard and Deltics are, like A4 Pacifics and the Elizabethan headboard, inseparable in the minds of many. To deny such artistry is to demean yourself rather than the image / art which you seek to belittle.
