Llangollen station 150th celebration

    Over the weekend of 30th and 31st May there will be an event on at Llangollen Railway to Celebrate the 15th anniversary of the opening of Llangollen station (the current one).

    For this a Beyer Peacock works shunter No 1827 is visiting. A loco built in the 1800'swas the main reason for this being chosen, but a slightly more special reason being that Charles Frederick Beyer of Beyer Peacock lived in Llantysilio Hall near Berwyn, and is buried in the church yard at Llantysilio.     It is planned for the loco to be working trains between Llangollen and Berwyn.

    Also planned for the event will be a Victorian funfair at Glyndyfrdwy, music and other entertainment of the era.

    Is there a timetable available please plus any ideas on which locos will be operating thanks?

    Re. FR20 I am informed that it was all investigated & costed but the logistics & cost were just too much as she's already down for steaming at Shildon the w/e before & w/e after the 150th w/e.

    Nothing out as yet, but it is thought that 6430 will be operating with the autocoaches, and 5199 on a normal set. This will be 6430's first runs after having major overhaul.

    Yes, with FR20 it didn't work out as a cost efficient option unfortunately. Another time maybe.
