Well that was an enjoyable weekend to organise, I hope those of you that attended enjoyed it as much as we did. Thank you Swanage Railway and Drummond Locomotive Society for tge loan if your superb locomotive. Now to start planning for next year! Any ideas?

 

Something involving the BTH diesel please!

That aside, not fussy, couldn't get as far away from home as the KESR to attend this event but haven't been to a gala at the line since... gosh, probably the November 1992 (?) diesel gala with Tamworth Castle, so I'm well overdue. Had plenty of normal service day visits since then and there were times in the mid-1990s when the summer weekend timetable involved at least two steam turns including the Victorian set plus a Hastings DEMU that were almost gala-esque in entertainment value. I've seen some of the gala programmes from the late 2000s when I was away from the hobby and looks like I missed some epics, so whatever next May's gala involves I'll do my very best to turn up as Tenterden bank is one of preservation's best climbs.
