history of bus manufacturers in birmingham

Birmingham University has an interesting website which includes some pages about bus manufacturers, including AJS, LVL, GUY, and SUNBEAM. the main museum site address is:-

    http://www.localhistory.scit.wlv.ac.uk/home.htm

if you click on the museum logo and then on the doors of the museum, and then on the door marked 'transport' there are four manufacterers in a list which you can click on to read the history, they include pics.

to get straight to the four makers:-

    http://www.localhistory.scit.wlv.ac.uk/Museum/Transport/Buses/Guy/guybuses.htm

    http://www.localhistory.scit.wlv.ac.uk/Museum/Transport/Buses/Sunbeam.htm

    http://www.localhistory.scit.wlv.ac.uk/Museum/Transport/Buses/ajs.htm

    http://www.localhistory.scit.wlv.ac.uk/Museum/Transport/Buses/LVL.htm

didn't know AJS made buses, never heard of LVL, LIGHT VEHICLES LIMITED.

apparently Birmingham had a bigger tram and trolley network than London

Looking far a general bus related enquiry, this is the most appropriate place I can find to put this...
Buses and trains seem to go together so I'm posting on both to cover the bases.
Some while ago and in a local newspaper the name of which I cannot remember there was an article of a bus mechanic being taken to court for falsifying maintenance records in that he signed off a bus brakes as serviceable when in fact he had not inspected them and the bus was then involved in an accident when its brakes failed. In court the mechanic had claimed he was put under significant pressure verbally and by threats of violence, from the owner of the company, to sign off the inspection to get the bus back in service. He was still found guilty of falsifying the records. As far as I could tell the bus company ceased to exist some while after.
Does this ring a bell with anyone? I know I read this article on line but can't remember where or what I was searching for that brought up that report. I'd like to find it again. Anyone any suggestions?
