    Two shots from yesterday:
Having never been to Sydney Gardens I thought I would get over there to have a look before the wires go up...out of interest anyone know how long until that happens? Anyway loco sounded great working away from Bath Spa.

As the sun was shining I made a dash down the M4 and arrived at Cholsey with minutes to spare. Was going very nicely at speed.

Correct. This wasn't the usual SD stock although I think that the kitchen car, that I believe is the only item of stock that SD actually owns, was in the consist. The rest was from another WCRC rake that had a working PA system - I gather that the SD normal rake does not.

So, putting two and two together it seems that one positive outcome for passengers that may be connected to the ORR matter, is that steam charters will now have working PA systems. And about time too, I say. Not so that it can be used every five minutes by someone who likes the sound of their own voice, but to inform passengers of critical things at the appropriate time. Marcus Robertson did just that yesterday - informative without being intrusive.

Here we go again, Buseng = yawn, yawn yawn! If you don't want the silly remarks then don't post your "replies" in the first place! I agree, about time a new hobby is looked into...... queue the "was waiting for you to pop up" response.

Onto more important matters, looks as though all on board had a grand day with Mayflower once again proving her worth on a sensible loading. Thanks to those who have replied on how the day went, I certainly enjoyed reading the reports!

Taken at the Newbury racecourse water stop. The loco was stopped about two coach lengths before the end of the platform. The last 2 coaches of the 9 coach train were off the end of the platform.

Not quite the first! The Cathedrals Express took Riley's black fives down the dive under at Christmas last year on the Victoria to Bath & Bristol via the Surrey Hills.

Great photo. I think that the last time I stood on that platform there was a D1000 Western in each platform (4 at least!) with race specials.

Please can everyone refrain from responding to buseng? Like MellishR, I have set my account to ignore him but I end up having to reset that to see what the fuss is about. It's a fuss about nothing, again, of course...

Not much point being on here is it? Obviously not many of my posts are being read due to the ignorance of some members. Pity the forum software can't dispose of the ignore button.
Nice to to be wanted -NOT!

Excuse me? Your very words from this very thread #33.

"Can I just put that absolutely ridiculous post in some kind of perspective from someone who was actually on the train rather than someone like yourself who had the offer of a great day out with steam virtually starting from your doorstep but instead chose to make fatuous remarks on here".

Not exactly about the B1 & the trip to Bristol I don't think.

Problem with the ignore setting is it stops you seeing what the said person wrote, but it doesn't work vice versa, they can still see what you write (and therefore make a post you take exception/issue to without knowing), as well as the afformentioned buggering up quotes, I've had to use the ignore setting once (not Buseng) but found it not much help for the reasons stated.

Erm I think it was far more on topic than the posts you made regarding the ignore button or the posts about yourself/you moaning ;)

So for everyones sanity I will say this - let's get back on topic please as this isn't going anywhere - If members wish to make use of the ignore button then that is fine but I suggest we leave it at that, no more mentioning it and, by same token no more moaning about people disagreeing with your views on this thread please.

It has already been commented that one of the reasons for a good trip was that the locomotive was not overtaxed. I would not mind if NR was a little more strict on the subject of loading. Some may relish the tension of wondering whether Nameless will actually get to Shap Summit or slip to an ignominious stand but it is no way to run on a mainline. We all know what some classes did regularly 50 years ago but they did not have 125mph brothers at their backside and no-one had dreamt of penalty charges. One coach less puts up the fares but rather that than a heightened risk of steam putting itself out of business through nuisance value.
