The paper mystery deepens, the paper version of the article was in our little hut today and it featured 2 photos both of Canadian Pacific.

Anyway to the loco, planning on doing my blogs every month or so but forgot to take photos etc today so not doing one today. Our small update is that this morning we were removing some axle oil feed pipes and in the afternoon we moved onto taking apart the slide bars with the left hand side completely taken apart and the right hand side half done and will hopefully be completed on Tuesday.

If your interested in the great job opportunity on the project as a "project supervisor" the vacancy is closing soon so get your applications in.

With it being half term and being unable to work on the beast I decided I best get around to reworking my Canadian Pacific history profile with all the suggestions I got off this forum for notable achievements in her preservation career. I also got sent a couple of newspapers and DVD links which has helped pad out the article with more detail.
    So here it is: http://locoyard.com/2014/05/03/canadian-pacific-locomotive-profile-part-3-preservation-years/

Once we get a project supervisor for the project I plan to sweet talk them into seeing about getting them linked on the main MHR website... fingers crossed.

    Cheers

Thanks for the tip, currently have no idea how to get involved with the website etc so thought I'd wait for the new project supervisor as part of his job would be social media/website/blogs etc.

50 years ago Canadian Pacific was being recoaled and watered at Nine Elms following her morning trip up from Weymouth and was preparing for her return trip. Fresh out of an intermediate overhaul and with electrication being installed on the South West mainline this was going to be her best chance of breaking the ton and boy did she. She was rostered to work the 21-20 ex-Waterloo to Poole and it was this trip that Canadian Pacific set several records and her recorded top speed of 105mph. The fireman on that run was Dave Wilson and he kindly wrote a great piece on that run for us last year.

According to a recent survey 90% of the population have a mate called Dave. Apparently we have poor dress sense and are rubbish at poker, but 25% of women have dated a Dave, so it's not all bad.

Now where did I put those flares? Ah there they are hanging next to the anorak :)

You forgot to mention the most important bit........... us Dave's generally tend to know what we're doing! ;) :)

And, yes I am crap at cards, I do have a mate called Dave, but I wouldn't call my dress sense poor, scruffy/comfortable maybe, but not poor. ;)

That's perfectly true, although I find that not everyone agrees :)

Do you know, that's made me realise that I don't actually have a mate called Dave, although there was one who worked at our local Starbucks before they closed it.

PS does this count as thread drift? :):):)

I knew it would be my fault ;-)

Back to topic... Suppose we have to do it. Seems everything is coming together with the project. Let's just hope we get the wheels off the frame soon so we can get cleaning it. Then we can officially say the stripping down and inspection is complete.

I'm led to believe the frames of 35005 are to be lifted on 29th June so the driving wheels can be removed.
