The London Midland Region document about boilers, dated 1959, is nicknamed the Red Book and is almost as rare as rocking horse droppings. However, the earlier 1950 edition is in the NRM's Library collection.

Methinks I've got a photocopy of the LMR one. I've certainly got the E&NE one. If I remember, I'll look tomorrow.

I've dug out my photocopy which I've scanned into a PDF (attached). A few comments
    • It is offered as a historical document, only. 21st Century requirements both in terms of legislation and current practice are far different from those in 1959 when the document was produced.
    • I have copied the pages in the same order that I extracted it from my file and I give no guarantee that they are in the correct order or that all pages are present
    • I believe that the original was produced in Quarto and my photocopy (done by someone else) is of the pages from this document at that size. Unfortunately the original copy has not been neatly executed and I do not have the time, or inclination, to tidy it up.
    • Some amendments were issued in 1964 and these seem to have been stuck over the amended paragraphs, sometimes obscuring bits of text.
    Happy reading.
