I'm jumping around the house shouting, "It's Manor time".

Should be a good year for the many fans of this class of loco. If your "numbersake" engine is fixed soon, there should be 6 members of the class in steam this year.

Can we expect any visiting Manors for this event?

It'd be poignant to see 7820 attend, but even if it only ended up being 02 / 12 running I'd still head down.
Could one be given the Aberystwyth white treatment, or had this practice ended by 1965?

any visitor would be down to availability and to the £££ being raised to cover all the costs . Bag of fag packet in my mind quickly points to a five figure sum .

Certainly a big four figure one which needs to be covered - ways of covering that are being explored - unless there is a sponsor out there!

Surely the involvement of 7819 marking the return of Cambrian Steam in 1987 makes it an important part of the "Manor" history and should make an appearance - hopefully in steam - during the event.

I think there would be a great deal of amazement and pleasure if 7819 were to be in steam in November of this year on the SVR.

10 months to overhaul a loco that hasn't run for 20 years? Easy peasy!

The rest of the timetable for November is 2 steam and 1 DMU. Other than a couple of Cambrian Coast headboards, it doesn't sound like this event is going to be anything more than a lot of other days at the SVR when you can see two Manors running.

It hasn't struck me as being a particularly special event either, a day tagged onto the end of the season to get a few more punters in is all it looks. I don't think it's going to be the 'Manor-fest' a few people are thinking it might be.

It would be good if they got more than two Manors for this events. The West Somerset Railway had 4 of them for their autumn gala a few years back.

I am not sure you are going to get lots of people to an event like this at that time of years. As most people locally will have travelled behind these locos many times before.

Having been party to some early discussion don't judge the event just yet . The EMF are doing a lot of work to create what could be quite good event and mark Fifty years since the withdrawal of the last Manors

    From Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/events/1537211833232616/1628852604068538/)

Its very pleasing to confirm that there is agreement in principle for 7820 to attend this event joining 7802 & 7812. This threesome is particularly appropriate as these were the last three Manors in service on the former Cambrian lines & were withdrawn from service together - 50 years ago this November. The event will include all three locos operating on the SVR over the weekend of 14th/15th November together with associated footplate experience and photo charter events before/after that weekend. More info will follow. All subject to availability. Loco 7820 courtesy Dinmore Manor Locomotive Ltd

Im seriously tempted to pay a visit now, 7820's announced. I think I've made it obvious in other posts I love Manors after the Black 5 and EE types Is there a better loco? Choclate and cream Mk1s, a Manor with an 89A shedcode plate and a fair old bit of 'Dannys Bull' is there a finer sight?

There is now a dedicated Facebook page to the event , been sharing some nice archive images of Manors at work in 1965 and more news as it unfolds over the next few months which hopefully will build up to an excellent event

Tickets are on sale and my understanding is that normal service ticket prices will apply .

On the other hand, if it could be suitably special, there won't be many other special events competing with it in November. September and October are full of galas, but in mid-November, a lot of lines aren't even operating. The one caveat is the weather. November can be pretty grim and, given the short hours of daylight, a cold, wet weekend may not inspire too many people to pay a visit. However, the sun can shine in November and if the SVR is blessed with a good weather over that weekend, it could be a really successful event.
