    Oi.

I'd love to leave Waterloo behind 35028 on an 80 minute timing to Salisbury with Ralph W as our coach steward.

Enjoy his company. Show him the performance of a real steam loco too!

Not that I mind 46115, a Jubilee or a Brit up in Cumbria. Rather nice steam locomotives.

Some are really nice people whilst others would have found employment in the Stasi much to their liking. :)

Lovely shot in excellent weather....Who says that Cumbria is always wet and miserable.

You obviously have not had the dubious pleasure of his company.

I'll take you up on that, but I'll do it as a passenger then I won't have to chastise you for going to the loo without permission.:)

After spending some time away in the Scottish Highlands it was good to get back to find Scots Guardsman solo on this weeks Fellsman. She is seen at Bamber Bridge, Chatburn and Stainforth Cutting on the outward leg.

Some really great and very noisy sequences above. Very nice watching and listening. Thanks to both for posting.

Couple of very nice photos Shep. Especially the top one. A wonderful part of Britain.

All that worries me is that you are using up the rare summer weather so all that will be left for me will be more wind and rain for my next Owl trip up there and into Scotland!

Yesterday evening I watched the returning Fellsman at Cherry Tree, whilst it was passing thro' the station a couple of young idiots decided to throw a football from the A674 over bridge against the side of the train. There was a bang as the ball burst between the platform face and the underside of the train. In no way do I condone such behaviour but I can think of a couple of individuals who have their head out ready and might welcome the opportunity of a free header. More seriously although these "window hangers" might think they are aware of the potential hazards I doubt if they've thought of that one.

In reference to "being aware of potential hazards" - I was on the SVR some years when some scrote shot at the train and broken glass came into the seating area. Do you suggest we all lay on the floor in future just in case it happens again?

No. In response to pressure being applied by ORR to TOCs we all being asked not to put our heads out of windows, I am happy to comply, others are not. Their justification seems to be that it is their risk to take and that they are aware of the hazards, my point is that however unlikely, there are hazards that cannot be reasonably foreseen but would be eliminated by keeping your head in. In the event of a "head smash" I am sure that ORR would react exactly the same however unlikely the source of the contact.

Oh. You mean not everyone lays on the floor already?

I know the Chicken Licken story and so it's probably me, but I'm not sure what point you're making.
