I was told, last night, that there are 2 boiler lifts due next week, from the boiler shed back to their frames.
Make of that what you will.

Thanks for the info. We will have to wait and see.

Incidentally Richard Bentley ops manager said on Faceache earlier this week that 34105 is still at least 2-3 years away from completion dashing any hopes of the said loco appearing for a short while with 34007. I must say I'm surprised at this time frame considering how advanced the chassis overhaul is.

I'm more interested in the progress being made with the society's Std 4 - its been a long time since there was any news - and I know she's being worked on.........

Yes Tim Beere promised regular blogs after he moved on from the railway, saying that he would be volunteering most weeks. Apart from one or two to start with, that soon dried up!

It's been some time since I've put an update on 75079.

The front truck is being put back together. The front truck wheels sets have returned and are now in Ropley work shop awaiting to be put back in to the front truck. Front buffers have been overhauled and have been bolted back on to the loco. Work still continues on the boiler cladding with most of the cladding now completed. The cab has now been stripped down and all the cab fixings have been cleaned for reuse. New cab sides have or about to be ordered and will be Lazer cut before being delivered to Ropley. New cab angle brackets are being made. New loco running plate work has been made and has been installed on the loco. Vacuum pipe work is now being made and fitted to the underside of the loco running plate. Plate work around the front end of the loco has been renewed and painted ,regulator shaft has been made and painted.

There are lots of other items made or refurbished and the list goes on. On another note the buffers for 80150 have been overhauled and are waiting to be fitted on to the loco. Which will allow the loco to be moved when required.

Led to believe tomorrow's boiler lift is to turn the boilers over to allow work to continue on them. Once 76017 and 41312 boilers are finished and back on the loco's the boiler off 35005 will be transported from Eastleigh to Ropley.

Nice one, Lee - good to see things are coming on in leaps & bounds! :)

If you could keep the updates coming - say once a month - seeing as its the MHRPS's loco, I'm sure folks would be appreciative, and hopefully put hand in pocket to speed her return - I for one am looking forward to the day! ;)

    Great progress on the Uries

I saw the T3 last night what I wouldn't give to see that loco in steam on the MHR.

If anybody is remotely interested.........

The latest addition to the lines freight rake - the representation of an SR Cattle Van - will be officially launched into traffic tomorrow at noon in the cattle dock at Alresford, at the start of the two day Summer Fayre. :)

There will also be a speech given, as the vehicle is being dedicated to the memories of two long standing editors of MHN - Jim Pitt & John Elliott, both who were staunch supporters of this project, and are sadly no longer will us. ( RIP gents, it was a pleasure to know you both.)

I believe the cattle van will remain in the cattle dock all weekend for viewing. ;)

In addition to the two steam passenger service, the freight will be making two round trips each day as well, with 850 down to haul it tomorrow, and 92212 on Sunday. :)

Below, are before & after images of the donor vehicle, a worthy transformation, I think you'll agree.

On view yesterday at Ropley, marked up as 35005 (visible on a couple of the shinier axles)

Perhaps @siquelme could fill in the gaps, are these for the tender?

It was great to see the 9F and Black 5 out again on the RAT & Belle, for what seems (to me) to be the first time in a long time

That is indeed some of my dodgy painting. There are 3 sets of CanPac wheels at Ropley the 2 smaller sets are from the front bogie and the larger set is from the rear pony.

The rest I'm not sure as canpacs tender is in use behind Wadebridge. A guess would be swanages front bogie as they look to be the same size and the rest from her tender

That's another beautiful job by the Ropley wizards. I am hoping to come down on Bank holiday Monday for a day on the line. I look forward to a trip in this carriage. Well done all involved.

I'd wait for some kind of official announcement first, though I can't see it being a problem, more like workload/priorities............... possibly to pair it with 850 0r 925 to properly launch into traffic....... and given its T T Thomas for the next 10 days, it may take a back seat..........

Doh! I completely forgot about the Blue engine event. Perhaps a launch might be tied into the Open Weekend next month to show what a great job the MHR does?

I thought this thread would be more appropriate given that it's a long running restoration and part of the Canadian Pacific project and this is a general MHR restorations thread. We recently talked about the great cattle wagon so it's not limited to steam locos.
