    David.
A fleet of 51xx on 6 non corridors would be more than enough for rush hour on the dorridge/ stratford & stourbridge. With the little leamington formed of either 64xx or 14xx with a pair of autos.

According to someone on facebook 46100 moved under her own power for the first time since 2009 today.

With her return getting closer l was thinking that for her running in turns she could have run as 46152 as that is her original identity. She could then be changed to 46100 for the SVR Gala. The original 46100 was a bit of a rough loco so 46152 took her identity.
Sorry about that drift into fantasy land there as that change did of course take place before they were rebuilt but it was just an idea :)

Seconded, I'm sure that a word from the right person in Mr Hoskings ear would do the trick! I will say this for Mr Hosking and RSL&GT though fair play to them they do seem to make sure that they're motive powers made available for all to enjoy, whether it's Royalty or for those of us on a budget! Should I ever have the good fortune to meet Mr H Im buying him a pint!

I'd do the same for him having the sense to bring it back in a historically correct livery, I like it in LMS red but only if some one wants to fit it with a parallel boiler

I think there are several who are dissatisfied with so much green and black.

It's a matter of what's right for the loco, a rebuilt Scot in red is not historically correct, it's LMS wartime black, 1946 lined black, or BR green although 6100 was not rebuilt until BR days so really only green if being pedantic. The only Scot to appear in 1946 black with smoke deflectors was, in fact, 6115 Scots Guardsman so it was spot on when first restored back in the late 70s

I for one dont mind green or black. I do think its nice to ring the changes every now and again though I quite like 45690 in its new guise but I also like the Y14 at the NNR. But to see 46100 as it is now in green it looks fantastic. Certainly better than that bloody awful pink it was in.

This is not a new argument though. I'm grateful toward having a big red Lizzie in a few months. The Sutherland people will they do it to, right?

It will be good having a new mainline steam loco out there though.

Red might not be "correct" on this loco, but it is magnificent! And I am pretty sure it is the livery it has worn the longest. It would also be a tribute to Billy Butlin and Alan Bloom who saved it for us, and both liked it red....
Historical "correctness" is mostly baloney. This is all a make-believe folks. Without a time machine, we can't go back, and without those chaps it would have been recycled into paper clips.
In green, sorry, looks just like Scots Guardsman, already seen that! What's new?

Why not compromise? An active loco needs repainting every few years so why not have something as authentic as possible half the time; followed by a flight of fancy or a bit of fun if the owners feel so inclined. Either way it will only stay like that for a few years.

I suspect this is a topic for a separate thread... History didn't stop in 1968. The locos, the coaches, the branch lines that we've saved and restored to health have continued to accumulate history. They've been owned by preservationists of one sort or another for longer than either BR or the "Big Four". IIRC, Royal Scot spent longer in rebuilt form in LMS crimson lake carrying number 6100 at Butlins and then Bressingham than it did in BR green. Both are "authentic" for different periods of the loco's history. I'm with Miff in this instance - delighted to see (4)6100 back at work in whatever livery, but hopeful that we'll see her in LMS livery again ere long.

It means "to keep the same or to prevent being damaged". So what is your point?
There is no "authentic" "preservation" of 46100 possible. No preserved line is appropriate for this Class 7 (BR classification) ex-LMS loco. And hauling occasional specials of air-braked Mk 2s passing Pendolinos is hardly authentic - but it is huge fun. "Preserving" it would be in a museum. Thankfully, some of people can see beyond preservation senso stricto. But it is still just a very big toy, playing a big game. So let's be a bit less precious about it all....
How about NBR brown? Would look very handsome.
