Footage of 46115 near Birkett common . Fitting to see steam on the rails 47 years to the day that the last steam train ran named 1T57 .

Weren't they fierce this evening? I was on the hillside above the road bridge. Never known anything like it, even on the West Highland! Nice shots. I like the Ribble bridge in particular.

46115 on the Daleswench. Trying to redress the balance with too many sexist name trips!

I think this is my first ever main line steam lineside shot of a non-SR loco away from the SR.

A wide shot with Pen y Ghent in view. The sky tells the story! LOL! Shame. I was on my way back from an Owl trip in Scotland. Nice way to break the journey.

    Was going very nicely.

Some footage from me today, starting with a Southbound shot at Aisgill Viaduct, with a visible showing of the midges.

Any news/photos/ video from today' run please?

From RTT look like it has been running fine.

Lovely watching 46115 on Tuesday on my way back from my Owls, but I guess for old times sake would have preferred to see the Jub. I did travel that line once in steam days with a Jub on the 10.17 Leeds Carlisle.

Good run too. Over 80 coming down from Ais Gill towards Carlisle.

August 1967. Went up overnight, and then got a Black 5 on the 08.40 Bradford-Leeds. Then the Jub to Carlisle. Followed by a Black 5 on the 13.48 from Carlisle to Preston. Then back home. Not a bad day out: steam from Bradford to Preston via Carlisle with 3 different locos including runs over Ais Gill and Shap.

Whilst waiting for news of todays run, I'll post some details of that day back in August 1967!

44662 was the loco from Bradford to Leeds.

45562, "Alberta" was on the 10.17 Leeds. 8/255 tons., Driver Pawson from Holbeck. Circa 38 mph min at Blea Moor, the 75 mph before the Appleby stop. The some nice sustained fast running from around mp 286 to mp 299. circa 82 mph max.

    45295 was on the 13.48 Carlisle - Preston. 9 for 310 tons.

Superb run, my best with a Black 5. Just under 39 minimum on the climb to Shap, 46 over the summit. 83 mph down towards Tebay. Then over 80 mph from MP 17 to past MP 7 with one short slowing to 75 mph. I did record a single 1/4 mile at 90 mph, but suspect that may have been a dodgy 1/4 mile. Max was probably nearer 87 - 88 mph. One day I'll put the run on a spreadsheet and check it out! Nearly an 84 mph average over ten miles.

115 mins 30 secs Carlisle to Preston. But we were severely checked by signals out of Carlisle, taking not far short of 25 minutes for the first 8 miles. Then a sig check near Bolton le Sands, a severe sig check near Lancaster and a slow tsr near Bay Horse. Suspect the net time could be some way under 100 minutes! I'll do that spreadsheet one day.

Lovely to get some fast running with a Black 5. Not that uncommon to get into the high 70s and low 80s at times back then. So sad to see them limited to 60 mph these days. but I don't own or maintain them!

So nice to see that logs I timed all those years back are presumably enjoyed today. Who would have thought that, as I jotted down the times all those years ago as the day unfolded!

Indeed who would have thought I would have photted 46115 on the S&C on Tuesday this week, and that a Jub would be on the same route today.

Talking of which, no news yet. Hope she ran OK.
