I believe TV is being marketed as so TBH a gala where you have 2 Bulleids, a Brit , Scot, LMS 4 MT, Manor, 45xx , 14xx and A Hawksworth 15xx you can't really go to far wrong can you? Another visitor would be nice though!

Two of them are yes but the 2002 loco(s) is still red or at least one of them I should say as that was the year that both the Duchess and Lizzie were the guests. Blimey just realised that is 13 years ago now
You forgot 2857! That would make 10 locos and a good line up. If another doesn't materialise then I'm still happy with that line up, if another does even better!

Didnt Lizzie and Sutherland visit in 2006? Me and the old man visited on the Sunday 6233 departs Bridgo 6201's running round and the Super D wheezes in.. Que the old man getting really excited! 'love these, there was always a few on Bescot' Him and Pete Waterman had a good chat about them in 2009!

Yes they did. Lizzie was a bit of a regular then as it visited in 2002 with the Duchess. Then it came again in 2003 alongside 32678 & 73096 and again in 2006 with the Duchess and the Super D. Some good galas there that's for sure.

Dont remind me, David Mellor mentioned somthing about looking forward to enjoying his 100th engine down the valley in the SVR news in 2010/11. I then worked out my total! Ever since then I've been like a cricketer! 3650 was my ton!
Crikey I've missed out on some crackers! didnt help I had a 'I dont like steam trains' between 2002 and 2007

I'm surprised we're just a month away and still only two guests announced. Wasn't Raveningham Hall mentioned at one point? All seems to have gone quiet on that front... Like other railways, is the SVR having trouble sourcing guests locos? I'd have thought having the mainline connection would increase the possibilities compared to some other railways who have been struggling this year. I've got my fingers crossed for either the red crab (or anything else red for that mater - such a difference compared to greens and blacks) or something apple green, not fussy what's wearing it!

It's a pity Tornado couldn't make it for the gala, but I'm sure having it running on normal days will increase revenue there - I shall certainly be taking a trip to see it, especially if it's on the teaks!

Surely 2 guests and a 10 loco overall line-up is quite sufficient?

If these sort of events are to remain viable, then the movement has to wean itself off expecting half a dozen guests to make an event worthwhile!

Having a "star" loco at an time other than a Gala makes excellent business sense - the chance of 2 visits by passengers and not adding further crowds to an already busy day.

    I agree.
Resident locos that have recently returned from overhaul will attract visitors and the SVR will have 34027 and possibly 7802.

I agree half a dozen is excessive, but current form seems to be three - perhaps a large tank engine so no tender travel?

I dont think anyone's too dissapointed with the visitors anounnced so far. 7802 & 34027 returning to traffic thats sort of like having 2 'new' engines back as well. Though I would like to know what the 3rd guest is!

Ah, I hadn't appreciated 7802 would be back too, is that definite, or only a maybe? If so, double headed manors on the GWR set is another very tempting possibility!

No it isn't & it wont be although it is well advanced. The target is to have it finished in good time for Manor 50 on Nov 14th & 15th together with associated footplate experience events & including the visit by 7820.

Quick question - what kind of ticket do you need if you're planning on travelling through the night?

I haven't yet seen this year's ticketing instructions but it shouldn't be too different from previous years. A day rover will be valid for that day so a saturday rover is more or less valid from Saturday 12 am till Sunday 12 am. There will be some variation on the exact changeover point.
Therefore if you want to travel during the evening/night but not after midnight, it's either a day rover or an evening rover which is valid from 4 pm till midnight. If you want to do the whole night on the cushions, you'll need a second ticket.

Can anyone open the timetable link on the webpage?
    http://www.svr.co.uk/SEItem.aspx?a=68

Been offered a ticket to ride behind 5043 from Brum to Carlisle on the Saturday, and want to work out if I can do the Friday night stuff and get a train early enough to TYS. This could be a long weekend...
