Heritage Railway Magazine's Facebook page is reporting that Ivatt 2MT 46521 will be visiting/returning for the gala.

I try to be a responsible dog owner at all times. My dog is not massive, she's a labrador lurcher cross so is a bit smaller than a lab and much more lightly built. If I'm going in a compartment with someone else I always ask anyway, especially with a dog.

As for the third guest, did anyone at all guess that?

Nope but kinda makes sense when you think 43106 went to Loughborough earlier this year. Shall we start getting the green paint ready? Dosnt look quite right in black!

Matt Fielding on the SVR forum gave the game away the other day when he said about it being the wrong colour.

3205 was hoped for the spring gala and 6960 for the autumn but evidently these fell through.

Personally I wouldn't bring a dog to a gala because of the number of people you may find there. It's just taking up space unnecessarily. But the choice is clearly yours.

If I was coming to a gala primarily to travel on the trains I would wholeheartedly agree with you, and I've never brought mine to an ASG when travelling for that exact reason. However Alex says he's mainly going to be using the train to hop on/off to walk and photograph, so spending 10 minutes at a time on the train in most situations.

At the end of the day Alex you know yourself and your dog's tolerances best. As you've already said, Sunday is going to be your best bet for enough space.

Wouldn't go as far as giving the game away.... could have been Great Marques or Leander to mention a few from that quote

True...though those two have visited within the last 5 years, and someone else had said to me that it was a small loco.

I wonder what chance of recreating the ivatt/manor double headers of the early 90's? I think it was 46521 and 7819 featured in one of the Karl jauncey SVR steam videos? The liveries would be the other way round but perhaps a nice blast from the past.

Someone was saying to me about double heading 46521 with the 4566 but I don't how much truth there is to this. We'll have to await a final WTT! It's only just over 2 weeks to go...

I would argue the reverse. If you were going to get on at the start and travel to the end whilst sitting in the corner with the dog, fine. But joining and leaving a succession of potentially crowded trains, perhaps not the best thing to do.

Nah it's not lined out! I think it has slightly bigger cylinders than 6443 too.

Nice little LM theme going with the visitors.

But if she's had a nice walk she'll be less trouble during the train bits. If she's just sat there all the time she might get fidgety. I'll do a succession of riding a bit and walking a bit so she can work out that a train ride leads to a nice walk!

Indeed, the Darlington and Swindon built locos (46465 onwards) had 1/2" bigger cylinders.

Probably a question that's been asked many times over the years, do members get a discount? I don't see any mention on the website about it so I can only assume there isn't.

    Cheers,

There usually is a discount I think members ticket is same price as a childs ticket.

Yes, members do. Before 2014, for galas it was the seniors rate but 2014 onwards it's childs rate as per a normal days.
In fact a members 4 day rover is cheaper per day than a member travelling on 4 normal days.

Cheers for the quick replies, I assume I will have to buy the tickets on the day as the website doesn't give an option to add my member number.

    Cheers,
