    Update on 75079.

Boiler cladding is almost finished and is now being removed from the loco for painting in green undercoat and then a nice coat of black paint.
Vacuum pipe is still being made and fitted under the running plate.
Cab hand rails are being cleaned up ready for painting and storing
Cab angle iron frame work is being cleaned and painted
Front buffers have received another coat of red paint
Front lamp iron brackets have been made
Drawings are being checked before the railway orders the sheet metal for the cab front sections and side sections. This will all be laser cut off site.
Regular rod has been cleaned and painted.
New cab frame work is also being fabricated.

I hope this gives you some idea what's going on. With any luck, anyone visiting this years autumn gala will be able to see the progress we are making on 75079.

    At last! :Updated:

    Cheers Lee. :)

We can all take our 'proverbial stockings' off now................. phew!

One thing that hasn't been mentioned, to those who read this thread.............. from time to time you will come across volunteers working on the loco, traveling on the service trains offering raffle tickets, if you encounter this friendly bunch, please do - its only a £1 a strip, and you could win the jackpot! Also, I believe most of what you purchase from the info office at Alresford goes towards 75079......... some of the other goes to the wagon group - limited edition wagons, the current one being a SCATS van, which is selling fast! ;) :)

Can't see any reason why it shouldn't be, and anyway there's members weekend before that - which would be the time to showcase it! ;)

Im afraid not fella, Im planning visits home to see my parents (46100,70000 etc also happen to be around) and then in a months time for diesel gala I still want to pay a visit but no idea when it'll be. Thing is when your local TOC starts using class 37's for passenger trains they have to be done!

    So we're safe then! :)

I'm giving the SVR a wide berth that weekend.

"IF" I turned up t' Gala, I wouldn't be drinking as I would be driving. :Caffeinefix:

Still, you could always join us for the autumn gala and experience loco's actually having to work, unlike the bump the SVR has!

Loco's at the SVR actually have a decent load on the drawbar ie load 8, and I would certainly not describe God's Wonderful Railway (it was on the telly, it must be true) as flat! Plus how many railways can you look out the window and see how the elephants are doing?! :)

And your point is?................. even with 8 on the hook, they don't exactly work................... where as 8 on the hook on the MHR and they really would be working, which is why we need loco's with the Oomph! :)

No you don't, which is why the MHR has stocked up on Standard 4s, which will easily cope with the 4-5 coach trains that are the norm on the Mid Hants. If you want to see a Standard 4 working hard you'll need to travel "oop north" to the NYMR!
