When did that happen? You sure your not thinking of 90775 running as WD 601 Sturdee?

Was it blue? The WD 2-10-0 piloted an S160 and they were both in LMR blue.

Any idea what the final visitor is going to be? Facebook has an announcement saying a star to be confirmed. Hope it's something red

In that case, everyone must have been keeping very quiet about 4003's secret overhaul :) If only.........

  8. Andy Forster has just written to say "Tornado" has been booked and will appear on all four days of the event (subject to no probs getting it here!)

  9. "Quantock Belle kitchen carriages Orion and Jupiter will be participating in the Autumn Steam Gala next month, providing our popular bacon baps and other all-day-breakfast style goodies on Saturday and Sunday." (from a post by WSRA's Jacquie Green on Facebook)

A direct replacement for 3850, a manor and yawnado...
Not the most inspired selection in the world.
Think I may give it a miss.

Here's hoping that the moneys being spent on and that the S&D gala is as successful as 2006, 53808/53809/44422,80104. Is an okay start.

I may be wrong, but I think I remember hearing that 53809 will not be available due to it having its 10 year overhaul?

I think you are mistaken 80104 hasn't been announced as attending the West Somerset Railway's S&D themed gala next spring,
it has whereas been announced as visiting the other somerset and dorset trust's base at Midsomer Norton.

Rumour here on the WSR is that 44422 is arriving early autumn, but still with work to be done. It will be finished at Minehead before some light running-in is undertaken.

Nice to see that the SVR Gala isn't the only one people are moaning about... Ruddy Hell, tell you what how's about no gala's at all that'd make life so much easier would it not?!

  16. 80104 is in fact reported in today's Steam Railway magazine as attending WSR's March 12th/13th 2016 S&D 50 gala. Our gala is a week after the S&DRHT event at Midsomer Norton.

What chance the Quantock Belle offering our traditional gala menu for the S&D 50 event? Anyone remember the Pines Express breakfasts back in 2006, complete with black pudding sourced from Manchester? I'm rather hoping we can make it happen and will be discussing the plan with my trustee colleagues and SEPT soon.

The timetable for Thursday is a little odd, the 1545 terminating at Stogumber is a random working especially as there's a local to Crowcombe which it would connect with if it went that far. The 1710 being the last train is a good idea, but the last through train before that is the 1445 service. Strange how they run later Thursday than Friday imo.
