And at Carnforth loop, however good news is that it looks like it is planned to detach diesel there:

There is also an LE move from Southall to Euston in the evening

Yes, as I understand it, steam comes on at Carnforth on the return and the diesel comes off.

Have you heard any more of the Euston to Crewe or Penrith one-way offer?
One could presumably alight at Oxenholme to return south.

Good luck to everyone on board with their 85 minute (50 miles) non stop run from Euston to Milton Keynes!

    Good point Big Al.
Having had many good runs behind 46229 and 46233 I don't think I'll bother with this one.

I haven't heard any more. For various reasons I had pretty much decided against taking up the offer, even if they had phoned me to confirm details.

Unassisted out of Euston. Look out for the Lakes Express roof board on 46233's support coach. Nice touch...

    Load 11, I believe.

I'd noticed several of 46233's recent runs had the tour name on the support coach roof board. The last CME it did I think was one.

Couldn't get an exact match for 14th September though I was out on the WCML on this day in 1963, but here is one of 46237 on the down Lakes on 20th July 1963

A better idea than some of the headboards carried in recent years - if that isn't tempting fate !

My effort shot at Stafford, where she crawled up to the replacement for infamous SD4-81 signal before opening up as she passed the station.

Here she is passing Brock this afternoon. On this occasion I was very lucky with the sun!

Caught up with the Morecombe stopper at Lancaster so no exhaust. No sun either, so in the edit I ramped up the contrast and turned down the saturation to get this...
