Latest Hanwell Bridge Loop timings according to RTT.

    Schedule 1100 - 1121. Expected 1100 - 1105 UGL.

Not a lot of time to drop the diesel off. <BJ>

Just noticed from RTT that the tour is booked on the relief lines between Reading and Hanwell this morning and this evening. It seems that steam tours never go on the main these days! Pity!

Absolutely appalled that I forgot about this today - living two miles from Dorking I could have travelled that way to work! Hope to catch a night shot there this evening.

I'm interested to know whether the old speed restriction through the Dundas Aqueduct has been lifted now the track-bed has been dropped.

I don't know how much the track has been lowered at Dundas and if it's indeed enough to make a difference to the speed restriction for each loco. The track height at Sydney Gardens is unnoticeable and was told by a railway employee that it was lowered by just 15 cms (6''). I'm not sure if that is true. <BJ>

5 minutes earlier and I would have stayed in the car. It was absolutely hammering down and then...it stopped. Halfway between Maidenhead and Twyford.

I reconnoitred this spot ages ago for a rail tour that never happened. Here is Mayflower, in utterly appalling weather, held up at a signal at the bottom, opening up and climbing strongly up the hill into the picturesque and quaint West Humble and Box Hill station. Its a doozey, turn up your speakers.

Time to get home for toast and coffee on the way to Taplow, where Mayflower is again held up at a red signal behind a stopping train.

Much guffawing at the station when the preceding service was announced using the new "Great Western Railways" moniker.

Wouldn't bother, by the time the tour gets to Dorking 61306 will be tucked up in the yard at Southall after being dropped off at Hanwell.

34067 was fast line Paddington to Southall west on Saturday and Pete Roberts reckoned the 75 at Hanwell was the best bit of the day as it was so rare
