VT Welsh Marches 26/9

Alas not, our tickets have arrived today, and advise that it will be 4965 now .

 

Anyone got any idea if it's being held up at Gloucester? RTT implies so, but wary to trust it...

 

We were held the other side of Gloucester to let a late running Nottingham to Cardiff services pass us.

 

Looked and sounded short of steam on Llanvihangel. Estimate not much over 20. Marked contrast to the 37.5 we topped the bank at on 29th August with a coach more. Only 7+Reg today. No photographers on the bridge today!!

My shot of the Hall taking on the Welsh Marches. Shots were at Bredon near Ashchurch and at a foot crossing Llantilio Pertholey near Abergavenny. Enjoy.

Footage of 4965 storming up Llanvihangel yesterday, also at Llantilio Pertholey foot crossing, then a stock shunt at Hereford & finally powering past Winstantow in the low evening sun.

 

I hope Mrs Jones didn't have her whites on the washing line when Tangmere passed. They won't be whites any more!!

Excellent trip, one of the best I've been on in a while, and even more enjoyable with it being a delayed Birthday present!

Finally got to try Ben's crumble, my bowl was empty & now thinking what trip to do next. Thanks for a top day VT.

I'm surprised that that we haven't had more discussion about 4965's run yesterday. I've been looking forward to this train for a long while and it ran on such a beautiful day.

I filmed the train from the Sharpness canal. The clip is just over 3 minutes long and shows the Great Western at it's best as the train skirts the banks of the River Severn.
