My reason for asking was that normally these Southall - carnforth show as run as required, however this is showing as a VAR

Yes it would show as a "VAR" schedule because the coding for "Q run if required" was overwritten to show the schedule running on that day and to be automatically called in TSDB.

    Does that help?

    Cheers, Neil

UKsteam.info shows Sunday's trip to Stratford as a private charter. I guess that whichever loco works the trip to Oxford on Saturday (4965?) will be kept in steam for Sunday's jaunt.

According to RTT, slightly early at Hillmorton Jn, just south of Rugby, then over an hour late arriving at Rugby. Any theories as to what was going on?

Does anyone know why Tangmere has had to return to Carnforth, is it anything to do with the reported boiler issue reported by SD,even though Tony sayes the engine was not suffering any boiler issues when it was withdrawn from the pool of engines by West Coast,

No idea - went through Lancaster roughly to time this evening, coasted through station and only opened up as departed north so no idea if the steam leaks apparent over weekend were still there. Gave a very weak whistle as she passed.

Finally after 40 odd years I have seen an original Bulleid in motion.
