UK steam is listing a private charter from Birmingham-Stratford via henley both ways this Sunday. Loco is TBA.

If memory serves me right, did the late Mr Maymen work on the Zillertal Railway every summer? - again memory tells me that there was a Derrick Maymen, in an episode of Great Railway Journeys of the World in 1980 - the episode which went UK, to Hungary, via Switzerland and Austria and narrator Eric Robson introduced him as a businessman from the West Midlands, he donned overalls every summer to work on the Zillertal.

Perhaps I'm reading too much into this, especially as RTT produces the odd timing at 186 mph,
but the train today has been timed at 45 mph. <BJ>

A return trip to Stratford, exactly like the Shakespeare Express, involves tender first running on the outbound run. These are restricted to 45mph unless special derogation is given.

What a nice surprise that is, to see 9600 out and about. Great stuff.

 

Is 9600 mainline certified or can it come out anyway

 

Must admit on the face of it the use of the 47 is puzzling as 5 isn't excessive for a pannier, perhaps eager not to score a hat trick of loco issues ?.
