What a wonderful series of posts bringing back so many memories off those far off days. Given me inspiration for a theme in one of my articles.

Without wishing to spoil the steam thread diesels 10201-10203 also worked the 'Arrer' for a while

I don't think the French were unhappy at all, it was some idiot British MEP who suggested we rename Waterloo to avoid offence. I got myself on a phone in on Radio 5 at the time as the only caller who thought it was a good idea, my suggestion for the new name was London Agincourt.

Well if it's double headed Southern steam it's going to be a pretty short article! Apart from the Night Ferry and Ilfracombe and I suppose Southern locos on the S and D I can't think of much.

Think thats right-some fauxquality hand wringer called Francis Carpenter, to be fair he actually said that the French should rename Gare Austerlitz as well, which makes a change usually thtis sort of thing comes from people demanding Gibralter be handed to the Spanish whilst skillfully skirting those Spanish enclaves in Africa or from people talking about womens rights from places which have gender based servitude for men, we all get the idea etc etc lol.

On RTC website says this is likely to be last one of theese -any reason known to anyone or is this marketing. Does anybody know if there is a French equivalent to RealTimeTrains or UKsteam. :)

Add Weymouth to Dorchester South to the list. I've had double headed Merchants up there and an interesting turn of speed they managed as well!

Can't see any times for the return journey on Sunday yet, says Tangmere hauling on RTC.

Planning on viewing from clifftop café at Capel in the morning at 0945hrs then belt up to Barham area for 1015hrs to catch the return journey. I'll be on a suitably periodic 1937 BSA!

Can't really see Tangmere hauling this on any legs of the journey, she is still up in Carnforth for repairs, we should all be aware by now that RTC are not very quick at updating engine changes!

Re loco RTC says Brit/Tang on the way out - Tang on the way back. Obviously that may have changed.

Re Sunday there's an engineering possession between Dover and Folkestone which means they cannot go back the same route or approach Dover the same way. They must exit towards Canterbury (or Deal) which means there must be a box etc. to pull it into Dover as there's nowhere to turn.

Anyone know the train consist for this one please. ie: are there any real Pullman looking vehicles involved?

Might go and see/photo it somewhere on the original route if so. Presume that would have to be after Ashford on the down.

To quote the press who must be right!: The coaches will be First Class Mark 1 open carriages dating from the 1950s, including ONE Pullman coach

IIRC there have been tours that have just the one Pullman in the rake.

    Thanks guys.

Hmmm, is it worth heading down to beyond Ashford tomorrow morning to get a shot of an authentic Golden Arrow now? Probably not.

Have to see what time I crawl out of bed tomorrow etc.

Maybe the French werent too unhappy as the 'English' victory was 'a damn close run thing' and only because the day was saved by our allies turning up at the last minute

It looks as though the return to Victoria on Sunday will definitely be in the dark and also very late. The ECS and loco don't set off for Southall until 2350!

Have you not heard of Photoshop? I can guarantee some geek will come up with a picture with reliveried stock and the loco as 70004. Unfortunately I can't get down there and that sort of fakery is not for me, life's to short

Not my scene to do things like that.

Didn't crawl out of bed in time. And didn't hear it pass. Usually get a whistle for the foot crossing around a mile as the Owl flies from home.

RTT shows it running OK, but no news here yet . . . .

Oh, the reason there is no news here you idiot, is that you, the local guy for this one, didn't go out and see it! What a t..ser you are Yeti!

Thinking about this, and not reading this thread re LE movements etc, I would be a bit surprised if this didn't have a diesel on the rear. Just for insurance.

A train presumably connecting with a ship going to another country. Where another country's rail system is waiting to take the passengers forward on another steam special.

Needs to get to Dover on time with virtually no shadow of a doubt.
