Given the amount of electrical gubbins needed by a steam loco these days, it's vulnerable to something as simple as a battery problem. Easy to criticise from the comfort of an armchair though isn't it.

Let's have a discussion about the quality of fitness to run examinations?.......(I am joking, of course). And to SpamCan, yes that comment is easy to make from the comfort of an armchair. But in the case of a battery, just like a car, you get plenty of warning before it fails, that is, if you check it often enough.

Its the same armchair you're in as well, and you wonder why people think UK steam is openly ridiculed, will be a great story for any newbie to relay, "our train was failed because the battery failed", "errrrr did they not have a a spare, or was Halfords shut????".

Anyway Cod and Chips, no batter.....

Which is why most loco owners carry a spare, charged battery in the support coach! Might be in an armchair now but I have also been out there at the sharp end!

46115 had the same fault on a Fellsman this summer. Perhaps it's the same battery.

Fifteen minutes late leaving York (maybe they had to use jump leads) "Galatea" crosses the River Ouse on the way to replicating one of its stable mates (the fragile Scot) by failing at Scarborough (is it the sea air)?

No not the air, it's just Yorkshire in general and getting so far from the border causes a panic attack.

I think WCRC don't deserve the sympathy vote any longer. Let's face it, with shoddy FTRs and the red non-steam units assisting on the rear, they are destroying mainline steam.

As has been highlighted when they were banned WCRC have too much of a monopoly of steam tours. They have no serious competition so can get away with various failings.
