Thanks for this. Any indication on which way each loco will be facing?

The ELR website says that "A freight train will also be out on the line between Bury and Ramsbottom with various engines taking their turns on this throughout the event..." - but the timetable seems to deny this, so will we see a freight train or not?

    Cheers,

All loco's face North apart from 6430 which faces south. due to the intensity of the Passenger service there is no room for the freight set on this occasion, will speak with the powers that be and get removed
    cheers

Whilst planning my weekend visit from the readily available timetable (as usual on this wonderful line!), I see that on Saturday morning 34092 is in Heywood and at the same time heading for Rawtenstall! Not rocket science, I think the Heywood loco should be 80080, a little pasting error.
Cloudy forecast for Saturday, some sunshine for Sunday, but my father-in-law wouldn't pay the forecasters with holes in brass washers (!), so we'll see. It's looking like a ride Saturday and line siding Sunday. Not too sure about all the industrials mixed in, but tolerance for those who like them in this scenario, looking forward to a great time as usual.

Nothing wrong with industrials. Those of us who like them hardly ever get to see them on passenger trains.

ay not be rocket science to see now. But trust me. After 3 days solid looking at numbers & jiggling them around. They are just a blur!!

Personally I'm rather chuffed to see them included, particularly Gothenburg which barely does anything outside of Sodor! They spice things up a bit. It makes a good, varied timetable when all engines are thrown in

I wish other lines would use all their operational engines at galas.

    Afternoon everyone.

I have just returned from a very enjoyable day on the East Lancs. I am another who is very happy with the simple 'Run Everything!' attitude. It adds variety and who doesn't like that? Lots of trains, lots of happy paying punters and if you don't like an particular engine I could today point at countless kids who flocked to every single one!

Anyway, whilst my photo's are uploading, I have a question. Today you see I had no fewer than four shots ruined by the 'sea of orange'! As far as im aware the East Lancs don't offer photo permits, yet just between Ramsbottom and Bury there were more than 50 hi-vis photographers out on the line. I interprete this as trespass. Am I wrong? Surely if the railway don't offer a pass, unless you are a working member and have authority to be there then you are trespassing... How would transport police interprete this I wonder. I can't help but think that the sheer amount of people doing this might be putting the line at risk should the wrong person be on one of the trains! Once again, am I wrong? Food for thought anyway.

A very imaginative timetable made for a fun day but engines didn't seem to be getting driven with the panache usually associated with the ELR but I'm sure there was a good reason for that.

Surely that's a good thing? It certainly is from a loco owners point of view....

Not an issue for the BTP. The land itself (I was once informed) belongs to the local Council, so if any bye-laws are enforceable, it would be an issue for Greater Manchester Police.

You prefer it when engines don't put on a show? That's different!
