Anyone who is not up here wouldn't understand how fortunate that is, rain and 100% murk at FW this morning. I managed to get bright light at Loch Nan Umnah Viaduct from the left side due to the wind, and the Grog still has Black Cullion on so all is well worth the world.

A couple of mine from the journey home yesterday to illustrate the frustrations of Highland weather.
First one is the K1 and Jacobite stock heading back to Carnforth at County March Summit in challenging light ( taken at 1250 ISO for those interested in such things). The second, a few hours later is the Polmont train coming over the summit. I thought the exhaust could blow down on the curve and it did so I'm pleased I moved down the road.

Exquisite opening sequence followed by some superb video of train action at beautiful locations - did I enjoy it? Oh yes!! Excellent work Austin and I'm glad that you had what seems like a very enjoyable week in Scotland. Many thanks for sharing.

    Cheers,

    Alan

And there's me thinking that it was all about the music and it's title.

Very impressed by some of the shots from last week from John, Henry, Steven and the video from Austin. Against some very poor weather forecasts, which led me not to return after Monday, some rays of sunshine seem to a blessed those who stuck it out!

Sadly nothing from me. My own attempts on Saturday did not go well. I was higher up than Steven at County March, so the wind blowing the exhaust really scuppered the photograph. There's a train somewhere in it I believe....

Was good to see how many familiar faces were out on Saturday, and to see quite a few of them then extend their holiday to Scotland by attending the Bo'ness & Kinneil Railway Steam Gala on the Sunday. (featuring Furness No. 20 and Black 5 No. 44871). I think a few even stayed on to attend the photo charter with soon to be withdrawn D49 No. 62712 'Morayshire' at Bo'ness, organised by Andrew N Fowler and myself, and have come away with further evidence that when the day gives a full cloudy forecast throughout....ignore it, and get the camera out!

Here's to next year's Jacobite season already, which interestingly has been extended right until the end of October, meaning the final week will be even more golden! May it hold some more opportunities?

Agree with Jonathon, here's to next season and maybe a photographer's charter too. I didn't have as much luck with the sun as Henry but here's a few of mine from the last week to round off.

As others have already said Austin, your video is stunning! From a personal perspective, it justifies the 10-12 hour drive from Portsmouth to Fort William when volunteering for a week with one if the 5's and although I haven't been up for a couple of years due to my little boy arriving on the scene, it shows what a spectacular route the Jacobite is.

Some great shots and videos on this thread from throughout the 2015 season, how lucky we are to have this scenery to tempt us back every year!!

Please follow the following link to see my efforts of the final week with K1, after getting a bit of luck for a change when it was needed most!!

    https://www.flickr.com/photos/oli_g_15/albums/72157660552791871

The funniest moment of the week must be after getting the Polnish shot in sun, the gallery was quite happy with what had just been captured, with some cheering. What wasn't expected was the whole of the last two coaches of passengers cheering back at us all...was like something off of the railway children!! Happy times!!

Many thanks to all who was involved. Looking forward to next year.
    Ollie

Thanks very much, a spectacular route indeed and hopefully I'll be back next year, whatever the weather!
