No exact reason for her withdrawal was posted on here IIRC but in one of the mags it was reported that she required a front end overhaul so she returned to Carnforth. Whether this had anything to do with her incident at Weymouth (hitting and pushing the buffer stops) I do not know.

Watching Stephen's video clip Tangmere sounds much better but I agree with others that some more fine tuning should be performed.

With Bulleid Pacifics it depends on how they are being worked and you cant really tell unless one is working hard with a heavy train. One of my best ever runs and tape recordings was 34057 on the 530 down when we held 70 mph up past Woking recovering from a tsr at Weybridge. Kent Yeti has a copy if my copy CD. The valves were way out but what an incredible noise and performance. Tangmere was also on top form on the last trip to Minehead.

The loudest noise is the air pump, which sounds a bit rough, but maybe that's not an indication of its condition? Tangmere has never had completely even value timing - no Bulleids do.

Have to be honest - with Tangmere in that video showing at least a bit of escaping steam when it shouldn't, I'd be a bit wary of taking her anywhere near Bath tomorrow. Extra trains are on for the Christmas market, Bath Rugby are expecting 13,000 in town for a home game vs Northampton so it will be queues at the station to be allowed on the platforms anyway. Tangmere having one of her sulks anywhere in that lot will start a riot! Hopefully though its just a bit noisy without being too detrimental to performance.

Any chance of the 33 coming with the train tomorrow. In the unlikely event of Tangmere having a strop, it might be nice to hear a 33 blasting out of Bath for old times sake - take me back to my school days when we used to watch them from the school yard hauling up from Bath Spa towards Oldfield Park!
