Just read on the Mid Suffolk thread that the Y7 will be on the MSLR for 2016. Will Wissington be spending summer somewhere else this year?

I see Black Prince has now been formally handed over to the NNR. Must have been an emotional day for Mr Shepherd

I'd assume that Wissington will again be at the MSLR next year as the press release starts... "The MSLR is to have four resident steam locomotives for the main season next year." http://www.mslr.org.uk/new-mslr-visitor-for-2016/

Just read on the NNR FB page that 43106 will be a guest at the Spring Gala. Will it be staying on the railway for a bit after the gala?

There is only one weekend between the NNR gala and the SVR spring gala so I would highly doubt it. A couple of days photo charters at most.

That should look great - I know that the class was used on the M&GNR in days of old, but 43106 herself? Doesn't matter - it will look authentic climbing through Weybourne. I'll book up for Sheringham youth hostel for the duration!

I believe 43106 was on the M&GN for 5 years during BR days

What's not to like, even for the most pedantic enthusiast! Also standard mogul 76084 and the Southern U to provide a little of the exotic.

Its ex M&GN tablet catcher lay in a corner at Steamport for years. Presumably it came from Lostock Hall. Don't know what happened to it though.

Such a shame that an Ivatt 4MT was never preserved for the NNR, but funds must have been extremely tight when the organisation started

The problem with the hopper door pin.
Any more detail on that available?
We are having to reskin a number of hopper doors on the Seacows we have, due to corrosion making the skins bulge and bind against the bodywork.
This is longstanding and is a problem harking back to the 90s at least on BR.

The hopper pins themselves can be a sod to get out.

At least they saved the B12 and the Y14. The two classes would have been extinct otherwise.

For me the biggest shame is that there was no groundswell of support to rebuilt M&GN 50 from the extant boiler. I hasten to add I don't blame M&GN soc or NNR for not wanting to take on such a massive project themselves. Does anyone know what project it has gone to?

We couldn't get the pin out in situ, so we gassed off both "legs" of the supporting "v hangar" to push the pin out in a press. We will have to weld it back up next week. The doors themselves are OK with regards to binding, they were just incredibly stiff to move due to general ditritus in the gears and the problem already mentioned with the pins...

Thinking of visiting the Railway in March, can anyone recommend any affordable, decent (ish) B and B's or other places to stay?

As always i'd assume subject to availability but... the below was posted on the "76084 Standard 4" Facebook page on 2nd Dec - So should be 76084 running.

"It's a‪#‎WeLoveBRstds‬Santa Season at the North Norfolk Railway with the 9F 'Black Prince' hauling the Santas and 76084 on the Mince Pie Specials. If you like BR Standards North Norfolk is the place this festive season."

    Thanks for the reply.
We had 9 pivot pins to get out and managed to extract 5 without causing damage.
We have had about 10 new pins made up thinking ahead to the other 4 Cows we have to do.
