Funnily I stumbled across this video the other evening, it shows a Mk1 brake with 'National Railway Museum' written down the side.

That is why I said 'for the time being', if the NRM don't have theirs in ticket. I would imagine Mr Riley would prefer to keep his pob's available for his own loco's so as to keep his availability as intact as his reliability record.

Is 60007 at the NRM? Could they use 60007's support coach if the NRM one isn't available.

Next year will see the long awaited return of the only surviving A3 locomotive no 60103 Flying Scotsman, and the A3 has already been booked onto a large number of railtours. Things will firstly kick off on Sat 23rd January when 103/502 works "The Winter Cumbrian Mtn Express" from Manchester Victoria to Carlisle (Out via Shap & Rtn via Ais Gill). Further railtours that will follow during her first mainline career for over 10 years includes: The Yorkshireman, The Tynesider, The White Rose, The Hadrian, The Waverley & numerous Cathedrals Express trips.

Lets not forget also her inaugural working in BR Green which could be on Sat 27th February. There's also a large number of events planned to take place at the National Railway Museum's in York & Shildon, heritage railway visit's (including the Severn Valley autumn steam gala in Sept 2016) & a set of photoshoots at the NRM on the 28th Feb & 1st Mar 2016.

So far im booked to travel behind her on the 23rd January as part of my birthday which is 10 days before, im going to be attending the evening photoshoot at the NRM in York on the 1st March & im planning to visit Scotsman at the SVR Autumn Steam Gala next sept, from Fri 23rd to Sun 25th.

What are other people planning to do for Scotsman's comeback year.

My 63 years have taught me to be realistic regarding planning, therefore I plan to do at least 2 Waverley's, which most people on here will know was a regular A3 turn in the early 60's, as my particular 'thing' is horses for courses, classic traction on classic routes. If at all possible, I will pay on the day, but I may be over optimistic here, or at least try to book as near my travelling date as possible to guarantee A3 haulage, within reason, but I admit, that may be impossible this year, I would also love to do an east coast trip with her, but I may have to wait for one that suits my preferences in the next year or 3, as an A3 is the only class I have travelled at just over 90 behind, then, I have to fit in the other half dozen or so trips I would like to do this coming year.

I'll be going to the nrm or shildon possibly to a photoshoot event and out to photo I think.

I prefer shildon to the nrm so will probably aim for that!

I'm going to try and travel, but in year 2 :)

I might head out to see her out of London or when she's down South. Haven't seen her in steam since 2000 which still holds great memories for me.

Will be keeping well away until the dust settles, particularly as there seems to be a £20 premium on 60103 with some tours planned for next year. I'm hoping things will calm down during its second or third year as it gets into bread-and-butter work. If not, I'll probably stick with non-60103 trips, as I'm not all that fussed.

Usual static steam tests...tighten everything up, find the leaks I should imagine.

Yes, just testing the work out under steam pressure, leakage checks, making sure ancillaries work. Looking forward to a report on how well things have gone after this first trial.
Actually, I feel that Ian should have been the first to give the news on this forum. So apologies to him. But some doubted that he and his team would make it before Christmas. Such negativity is just so annoying.

Unsure why? His own forum is 'The Works', where most updates regarding his fleet are posted.

Ian shared a photo on Facebook this morning, taken by one of the team of the A3 in steam last night, just shy of midnight. The lads in the works deserve every congratulations and applause we can give them.

    A national icon is back!
