Because of flooding at Giggleswick, the passenger train in front of the Scot was held at Clapham for quite sometime before being allowed to proceed, hence the reason the Scot late in leaving Carnforth.
After a good wait in not the best of conditions LMS 7P Class 4-6-0 No. 46100 'Royal Scot' approaches Clapham looking and sounding in fine fettle

What a day. Arrived at Hellifield at 1.45 thinking I'd probably missed the Scot only to find that it was very delayed, and hadn't yet arrived. It eventually pulled in about 45 late looking and sounding fab! Now can't wait for the Coast to Coast tour to see what it's capable of

Very crisp beats too. Then again its had a lot of TLC to get it to this point. Congratulations to all those involved.

Sounds superb. Looks to have been a quick climb too. She's going to be a seriously good'un. Congrats to all at LSL and the 'works' at Crewe.

Well captured Phil on a pretty wild day. Caught the sound well too despite the conditions. 46100 sounds superb, I'd swear that it was actually accelerating slightly on the climb!! Many thanks for sharing.

    Cheers,

    Alan

I certainly did! Thank you for braving the elements. Three-cylindered LMS engines make a terrific sound when in fine fettle and working hard. I'd be delighted if 46100 would spread its wings a bit more than 46115 has done. I'm suire that a visit "darn sarf" at some point in the next couple of years would be well received by more than just yours truly.

Saw about the last 6 carriages and the 47 as I ran into the platform... She absolutely hammered through Lancaster.

Agreed on all counts. I'm not used to hearing a Scot sound as sweet as that and without any front end/cylinder draincock noise. How refreshing.
