A number of things at the Telford Steam Railway to include the connection of one end of the loop at Lawley allowing us operational flexibility with stock moves. This in turn releases space in the yard for the first phase of the carriage shed along with new sidings allowing us a base to work from on that all important extension southwards towards Doseley. We are also undertaking a major spruce up of our Horsehay Station and further development of our cafe area as well as signifcant work on certain items of rolling stock. So quite a bit for us to be getting on with :)

Not forgetting the approval (fingers crossed) of the L&B planning application for the extension to Blackmoor and Wistlandpound.

Is there any reason why they wouldn't approve it apart from landowners objections?

Err not for February! But defo for 2016 - June may prove an ideal date to watch out for. When it does happen, will be the first time since 1944!

The event at Midsomer Norton 6/7th March to mark 50 years since closure of the S&D, I think a Std. 2-6-4T will be used.

This has to be the least likely heritage railway event of the year.

The first service train of 2016 between Dover and Folkestone. That will signal the end of the current disruption locally (best part of an hour to London and no direct trains).

There won't be any steam or White Cliffs Specials on South East Kent main lines before then.

The dearth of steam in 2015 down here is not ending with the New Year.

The Railway Magazine mentions that E4 B473 (better known as "Birch Grove") will be visiting Haywards Heath in September as part of an event commemorating 175 years of the railway arriving and thus 175 years of the London-Brighton main line. Although Steam Dreams is running a special on 9th July which will cover most of the toute, steam-hauled trains running the full length of the Brighton Line have been few and far between in recent years. Were one to run to mark the event in September, especially if given a decent path rather than the usual 90+ minutes to reach Haywards Heath, it would be the highlight of 2016 for me. Perhaps Mr Hosking can get another 90 mph derogation for one of his engines, in this case 34046 (based at 75A Brighton from 1951 to 1959) for the occasion??
