Yes the rails are still there almost 30 years after the last train. The trees growing through the sleepers are to say the least quite substantial in places. I suggest that its another folorn hope.

Of course they also plan to run over NR Metals into Frome which as project Wareham has shown while its 'do-able' it will be very difficult and expensive.

I suggest again its another 'would be nice' but with two groups it seems working on the idea and previous attempts having failed I suspect it sadly wont get far

Pretty sure I read all the track was shot and needed replacing
    anyway.

I have visited the track recently and your definetly right. I would say the sleepers need replacement as well because they are quite clearly rotting away. I do also wonder about the cycle path that frequently crosses over the actual track.

As a preserved railway it has little to offer.

As a transport link, it really goes in the wrong direction.

    Hello,
Maybe they could link the track to Weymouth Tramway.

Funnily enough two coaches were detached from the Channel Islands boat train and run as a class 1 train via Radstock to Temple Meads to connect with the last departures to the North. Probably the only express duty regularly entrusted to a 45XX

In fairness the North Somerset Railway seem to have a website written by someone with a reasonable command of the English language, and an understanding that it will take a lot of effort to get this project off the ground. http://www.northsomersetrailway.com/index.php

Quite. The railway ran in four directions from Radstock. In order of current usefulness as a transport link if reopened, I'd say this would come in No3.

    Aren't you a positive bunch! :D

To be fair to the North Somerset Railway Company, they have been working with the local authority for a very very long time over this, and it's the first time BANES have actually been making positive noises. I know that NSRC also own a DMU already, and have realistic phased reconstruction plans, so it's not completely pie-in-the-sky with no hope of ever happening.

Not sure if anyone on here has been to Radstock, but it desperately needs something to help regenerate it and turn it into something other then a suburb of Bath.

I honestly don't have any objections, and I think it could hold it's own against the Avon Valley, East Somerset and Midsomer Norton, which aren't exactly A-list, premier league preservation schemes.

I have visited the town and what it really needs is a connection to Bristol or Bath, hence why this is not the best option to reconnect the town, albeit most likely the cheapest.

This scheme is obviously going to fail because it doesn't have a Fudbook page.
