Does any one know the confirmed dates for the GCR Winter Gala? I work in a small team and need to get in early inorder to book the weekend off work. Thanks in advance for any help in this. The GCR website shows no events past Christmas yet.

Hopefully it's the final weekend in January like the last one. It would be silly to clash it with the ELR Scotsman event, which is being held over two weekends. Be nice if they can avoid the first winter Cumbrian mountain express too.

Popped in to Loughborough this am as I won't be able to make the weekend sadly (bathroom refit takes priority apparently....) quite a line up outside the shed- think 78018 was having its boiler put back in too. Chris

Unfortunately the DMU has had to be withdrawn from the event as a result of it's failure last weekend with what I believe were gearbox issues (though I stand to be corrected). The timetables on the website have been amended to reflect this.

Well I called in today for a few hours as I was passing en route from the south west to Lincolnshire. It seemed reasonably busy. Managed a few trips, the best being behind the'U'.
