Out of curiosity, is there a plan for the £16m required?

£4m a mile? Is that using private contractors?

Apparently that figure includes land acquisition, buildings and additional rolling stock for the extension so it's not quite as simple as £4m per mile!

I am sure that as soon as the applications have been 'published' a message will appear on http://www.lynton-rail.co.uk/

In the meantime readers might like to explore the wealth of information which is held in the pages of that site!

The planning applications should appear on the ENPA and NDDC planning websites as soon as the two authorities have made them available. Full details of the links to each application will be published on the L&B website as soon as possible.

I see there is a new bit of news about the planning applications on the 'members page' on the L&B website. It is dated 5 February.

Also interesting news in the most recent members' newsletter about agreement with landowners for more track bed purchases. Details and appeal for funding awaited.

The L&BR online Members Page has been updated yet again today. It now includes links to the Planning Applications which have been submitted to Exmoor National Park Authority

See HERE on the ENPA website for the five separate applications. There's a lot of reading though!

The NDDC applications will be along shortly... ;)

The remaining two applications, to North Devon Council are now online: refs 60675 and 60676 Several of the documents are duplicated across the different applications, but even so, there is still a lot to read! :)

A message from Keith Vingoe, Commercial & Marketing Manager at the L&B:

If you want this to happen, here is how you can help.
Our planning applications to extend the railway to Blackmoor Gate and Wistlandpound Reservoir are now completed and the two local authorities, Exmoor National Park and North Devon Council, have registered the applications and the public consultation period is open until 4th March 2016. The links are all up on the L&B's website.

You can comment on-line or by e-mail or letter to each local authority. As each is a separate planning application and will be determined as such you will need to send an e-mail/letter for each separate application.

Please ensure the word “support” appears in your responses.

Please pass this on to anyone you know - via forums, email, pigeon etc

    Thank you all.

I think you have to state yr location on the form. I wonder that support from out of the area will carry the same weight as local support..

Obviously, local opinions will carry more weight, but I describe myself in my supporting statements as a regular visitor to North Devon and the railway for over twenty years, in both peak and off-peak seasons, and that my family and I are looking forward to making more frequent visits as a result of the expansion of the line. It may not help much individually, but seeing that the scheme is supported from all around the country (and abroad) can only help. :)

The Neighbour responses to the applications are now visible on the council planning sites, currently weighted 7-2 in support of the application.

I wonder if/how the objections will sway the decision?

It is interesting to know it cost £3,000 in printing costs for all the planning forms etc, and that was the cheapest price the railway could find when shopping around over the whole country.
