If more factual contributions were forthcoming the scope for speculation, insinuation and ultimately frustration would be much reduced.
If you actually sift through things there are very few well placed people that make genuinely constructive contributions to this forum. Most of the facts in this thread have emerged via second hand reports of what has been posted elsewhere. Even now there has been no official news about the test runs even though there was a commitment to communicate such things by NRM et al. If its not for public consumption, fair enough, but at least say that.

They are in the public domain, times are itemised on UK Steam, that in itself is usually good enough for most people.

Its fine with me too and is consistent with most other timing information. There point i was making is that in this case there has been a unique commitment to maintain communication of each new development. However, this thread has had little official contribution, yet perversely it appears to create some offence when folk generally speculate in the absence of concrete info.
Just illustrating that any hostility could generally be avoided if communication was better. We could, on the other hand all sit mute and wait for mummy bird to drop the food in our mouths - this may be preferable.

Maybe some of us have other things to think about other than Flying Scotsman being centre of the universe...

I don't remember any NRM statement saying that they would update the NP thread - perhaps you can point out that information?
Official statements would be made on the NRM website as one might reasonably expect.

The point was made in response to the assertion that "the horses mouth" uses the thread for factual announcements?
NP clearly isn't used as an official outlet then?

The thread may be used by Ian to make factual announcements, but he is under no obligation to do so and can make such updates as and when he pleases.
No, NP isn't used as an official outlet - what gave you that idea?

£450! Surely that is a little expensive...

At the bottom it says in partnership with Virgin Trains, anybody know what kind of partnership? Are they involved in any way?

Edit: Realised LMarsh1987 beat me too it.

Well that's me stuffed then, that's a little on the steep side, especially when my parents told me the £22.00 day rover for the KWVR steam gala was at the top of what they would sub me to allow me to go, there isn't a chance in hell I'd be given that money

So is that a potential issue, many young enthusiasts won't be able to afford this and some other trips and be deterred, let alone those with only a passing interest, could the price of steam railtours be harming their future?
(Not wanting to stir the hornets nest here, just want to see what people think)

Well, FS will share the ECML with Virgin Trains. Richard Branson has an interest in FS....

I am probably late to the party, but this is down as a DBS job on UKsteam - has that always been the case?

I am sorry to say that if your budget is going to be £22 I cannot see you affording anything.
