    Moderator Comment:
On the basis that this is the relay of reported information from another source (Moors Express, that I gather is an unofficial NYMR site), will all posters please not comment further until something more substantive is published by the NYMR - just in case any discussion may compromise the arrangement and some of the contractual details.

    Thanks

Al - Moors Express is an Official free NYMR newsletter. Go to their homepage and you will see that anyone can subscribe to it. I am sure that anything published in it can be regarded as an official announcement and therefore not a secret.

Got that but if, as seems possible, an internal mistake was made, we wouldn't want to knowingly make it worse on here. hence the comment above that we would like everyone to respect until things become clearer.

Couldn't agree more. 65033 really is a case of an engine really needing attention, but hopefully there will be developments there. Would be nice to see it on the moors, although it might be a case of the Q6 needing to push this up the hill too!

The J21 and J27 would be an interesting combination on the moors gradients.

I wouldn't see the j21 as being anything other than a demonstration freight engine, as this is a relatively light train. If the NYMR had 2-3 items of non-corridor stock that might be another possibility. The G5s, on the other hand would seem to be capable of taking 3-4 Gresleys up the bank and there's always the option of banking it.

Looking at historical similarities - I think your right about the J21 being less powerful than other designs. However, if 65033 can take 3 coaches over stainmore on its infamous railtour I would expect a similar load for Grosmont bank, being about equal to the G5. Of course the double head, with both and or the J27 would indeed be fantastic.

Elsewhere Ian Riley reports that 44871 is to move to the NYMR on Thursday to help out with their Xmas and New Year services.

On the subject of a certain black engine, I've just noticed that somebody has updated the relevant Wikipedia page with the news that the move will not now be taking place and that the overhaul will be completed at its current location. How much store you set by Wikipedia is as usual up to you.

A3 Flying Scotsman is now at York National Railway Museum, where it is having front wheels looking at for running slightly warm on its first Main Line run recently. The loco will also be painted into its Green colour, hopefully any repairs will not delay planned timings.
Not long now for the fully sold out runs at the NYMR, enjoy, timetables are now published for this event.

With the Moors now running daily I was wondering if any other members of the steam fleet are ready to work alongside 76079 and Eric?

No. 44806 looks likely to be next, once its new tender body is complete, followed by 63395. I believe that a couple of hire engines are booked, but I'm not in a position to release details of what they are, or when they are going to arrive - hopefully at least one of them by Easter. Then there's K1 62005, at Carnforth atm it was supposed to come for the early part of the season, but may be stuck by the WCRC problems, unless it moves by rail. 75029 of the home fleet is stopped with firebox problems, I believe.

Apart from 45428 and 76079 there is no chance of anything else until 44806 is ready. However the new tender body for 44806 only arrived this week and needs a lot doing to it yet such as the sump fitting, painting and fixing to the frames which don't have their wheels, brakes etc etc. I think it will be some time yet (June?) before 44806 is ready but very welcome it will be when it is. It did very well in 2014 considering what has been found and done since. 75029 is sadly back in the overhaul queue.

Unless a fleet of low loaders rapidly bring forth help.

    Sawdust.

PS I understand the mpd is helping NELPG get the Q6 back together.

That seems to be a sensible move. Le's hope that the expected hire locos turn up soon.

Good news for those getting there by public transport, see:

    http://www.yorkbus.co.uk/news.jsp?newsID=1657

The Coastliner service is much improved with an extended summer season, starting 27th March. In essence there's a repeated hourly service to Pickering that connects well to the NYMR.
