It was the last steam turn for the driver before he retires from DBS. He drove from Worcester to Reading I think.

That was probably true from the state of Fred (Fred Lewis from Newport) when he got off the engine at Paddington. He'd certainly been firing and as a Newport man we doubt if he'd ever taken a train into Paddington. We can't remember any occasion in the 15 years Fred has been active on mainline steam. Traditionally Didcot or Bristol men do the legs to Paddington. The other footplate men were Vince Henderson (Firemen) and Jeff Ewens (Traction Inspector), both Bristol men.

If that was Fred Lewis's swansong, we are losing another great engineman there.

Fantastic video, the shot at Goring in particular was great.

I believe we spoke just before Tornado came, I was the cameraman set up over the fence on platform 1?

I see that the portals are up. Not long for photos before the roof trusses and the cladding go on.;)

A couple of shots from me at Lyneham and Homedown Crossing, just south of Ashchurch.

Wonderful photos and videos of Tornado, thanks to all the contributors. After some negative comments on NP about Tornado I can't see what's not to like!

Excellent day out with 300 miles of haulage and no diesel which given last year we should be grateful. Thanks to UK Railtours and the A1 loco trust for at least giving the enthusiast back that which we enjoy and which will keep us coming back.

After seeing Tornado at speed yesterday, I am convinced that the loco is a superb piece of kit.

I do believe though that when Flying Scotsman emerges in BR green, the general public may think that the apple green A1 is the real Flying Scotsman and the BR green A3 is an interloper. <BJ>

Has to be said she performed again.

Every run turns into an orgy of speed looking at the vids, and comments.

Well done to UKR, A1ST and DBS, showing how it can be done.

Oh stop it, you're too kind :) My pleasure, thanks to everyone for sharing their videos and pics. Particularly like @AlexGWR1994 & @KristianGWR shots at Lyneham, I was down near the crossing with the crowd. Now I see the best view was up on the hill! Will remember if I go to that location again.

It is a lovely shot from the hill, easily accessible (well, if it's dry) from the footpath just off the road. Wellies required though; was almost impassable on Sunday!
