    I remember this project well, another advance from British designers but unfortunately had the big problem of the noise made by the small jet engines at the tip of the rotors, and since the idea was to fly from 'helipads' in city centres, the noise soon put paid to that idea.
    Hardly a dead end, the principal was good and with more modern technology it could well have been a success, somewhat similar to the APT. When you look at some of the prop VTOL things that the Americans have produced, the rotodyne was a much more elegant solution.

    The remains of the Rotodyne, a wing tip jet and a couple of small panels, as I recall, can be found at the Weston Super Mare helicopter museum.
