This could always be a path for a LE diesel? The one being used to bring the train back to London?

It also goes via Gascoigne Wood as well so you're probably right.

That seems to be the case as the train is due to arrive in York P9 according to the NRM. So looks like the minder will be following and not attached to the rear

That's the wrong direction, 'Scarborough Fair' is more appropriate...

I think (hope) this is the LE path as there is no train weight shown and the NR press statement says that FS will arrive in P9 at York around 1230 to be met by various people.

Why would they take 60103 off of the train at Holgate rather than a triumphal arrival into P9? We'll find out on Thursday all being well.

Tend to agree with you and if it is a steam path, the first "water stop" looks like Grantham and I thought it was only 60163 that could get to Grantham before taking on water.

OMG Henry. Reginald Dixon playing on his Mighty Wurlitzer!

One of my enduring memories from 1960s SR steam is Squire Huntley saying those very words, and quite often too. Although I can't remember the context, (young and innocent back then).

Anyway, back to FS. This really is becoming Boys Own story stuff. "And at the last moment and with a great bound, FS was free, hurtled down to London and with just seconds to spare got on the front of the now famous and much awaited inaugural run North to York." :)

Fingers still firmly crossed for all pax and all linesiders.

There doesn't appear to be any path for the train itself yet....the headcode of the 07:47 Ex KX is 0Z60...

Which is a light engine head code of course.

Since this is shown as "FRGT", there is no head code shown and I read elsewhere that departure from Kings Cross was at 07:47 then I could only presume this to be 60103. Even checking just a minute ago the only trains shown on RTT are this one move to Holgate with NO STP / VAR timings shown. Whilst it is logical that the locomotive bringing the stock into Platform 1 should continue to York once released by the departing train it is intriguing that the times for the "main" train have not shown up at Peterborough, Colton Junction or York - only those for the presumed light engine move.

Nonetheless I will be monitoring RTT to find out more.

Just a thought, but does NR not want thousands standing on the up fast to get a closer look at a buffer beam rivet on 60103 heading along the down line? Many will decide the down line itself gives an even better view .... So will the times get to RTT? Do we depend on those in the know here?

Thanks for the heads-up on other timings; obviously been checking the wrong portion of RTT but due to not appreciating the related stock / le moves.

Perhaps to deter sightseers clogging York station up, although would have been a huge PR exercise
