Ah -- it makes you proud to be British doesn't it (NOT!) -- watching your fellow countrymen screwing up what should be a day to be remember by doing what they do best -- thinking only of themselves and exercising no self control at all..
No doubt the press having hyped it up in the first place will have all their sarcastic 'trainspotter' comments lined up already

Well, the most prominent poster at Grantham this morning was one about today's run, with a request to behave and a note of when FS was due through.

Looks like a 25 min delay between Shaftholme Junction and Temple Hirst Jnc. You can just imagine the idiots that caused the delay:

"yeah it stopped right in front of us so we could takes it's photo. It blew it's whistle and everything".

Hopefully the BTP on board will have got plenty of evidence of those that were trespassing

To spotty schoolboys of the 1950s, spearmint was the flavour of Wrigley's chewing gum. For all I know it might well still be.

image.jpg Not as quick off the mark as Spamcan but here's mine at Arlesey. Not a lot going for it photographically today, abandoned the original plan of keeping away from the crowds by doing the long shot at Digswell due to the murky weather then exhaust blowing down but still pleased I went.

Despite all the media coverage, I'm disappointed that no one has mentioned the part played by Alan Pegler all those years ago. Had he not stumped up three grand or however much it was, we wouldn't have any of the A3s, let alone this one.

Such a shame that he isn't still with us to see today's event.

At least the engine made it ok, but i do wonder, railways are dangerous places, so why risk getting killed its not just flying Scotsman that was running along those tracks, a 91 bearing down on you at 100+ mph don't giv you any chance to get clear, the news report called them transporters, their not, they are trespassers. if your wrong side, it don’t matter what your there for, the only people who should be anywhere near the cess or 4 foot, are those who have a NR PTS and a proper reason to be there and wearing the proper PPE.

The space immediately next to where FS stop was fenced off and Press/VIP only. There were barriers at the north end of Platforms 10/11 which were rammed as was the remaining parts of platform 9.
Plus, a rammed footbridge as well.

My (poor/best I could manage away from crowds) shot from between Donny and York is up now at:

    https://www.flickr.com/photos/mark-walker/24959953920/in/dateposted/

Seemed to take 25 minutes (indeed it stopped right opposite us) to do the following 3 miles,so presumably more idiots on the track. Which is surprising as there was a very large NR presence at the crossing nearby.

    Cheers,
    Mark

Thank you for your kind words, the light was very flat but I managed to bring out some colour in Photoshop, couldn't do that in the good old days of film.

I can't work out where you were for this shot and where the tracks are. The signal appears to be just in a wired ballast desert! I'm just curious as to the layout here (where?).
