The TKh and the Norwegian on one train, the S160 on the other. Sorted. Although isn't the steepest gradient on the Nene Valley 1 in 270, which is no Tenterden Bank.

377 visited the NVR for a while and seemingly handled their winter service without undue problems.

Believe she struggled with more than 3 of the continental coaches. These are significantly heavier than a mark 1 however. When she ran on the Santa trains which are load 8 she pretty much only heated the train and applied brakes when travelling towards Wansford

I'm guessing she equivalent of 2MT? General rule of thumb for Cauldon is power classification plus 1. So 3x Mk1 should be fine..?

Not surprised she found life difficult on the Santas, they're heavy. I'll have to dig out my photos to see what load she was pulling when I saw her.

So could we see the S160 on load 9? I'm guessing it's a class 8.

The limiting factor is the run-round loop at Ipstones which gives load 6.

She is indeed rated as 8F. Theoretically she could (8624 and 34028 each hauled 12, allbeit with a banker), but there are other concerns as well (hence rule of thumb).

Run-round loop at Ipstones is 6-7 (I thought 7x, but Emma post made me think again).
Then there is the severity of the curve at both LBJ and Bridge 5, the binding effect significantly hampers anything longer than 6.
And then there is also the number of coaches we actually have, that being 7x Maroons! There are the 2x Dining coaches, with a RMB and SO awaiting restoration, but if everything heads up the bank we've not got anything to play with in the valley.

    http://www.steam-railway-videos.co.uk/acatalog/UK.html

Other than that it's what on Youtube (dates were 13th (8624) and 20th (34028) November 2010).

The loop at Ipstones is 7 1/2 coaches as proved the other day when 6046 ran round 6 + 33 with plenty of space to spare.

The Norwegian has plenty of power, just lacks the adhesion to go with it. Its not a heavy loco for its size!

We're 1in40 start, easing to 1in45 for 2.5 miles (ish) before levelling off at 1in59 for the final 2 miles (ish).
Heaviest load we've had behind 6046 is 7x plus a 33 IIRC, and she didn't struggle. Remember on one run with 6x we had to shut the regulator on her as she was finding it that easy!
