Well 35005 will be back by 2018. 34105 probably sometime next year or again 2018. So not too long.

You need to get your priorities right and pull a sicky next weekend. You know it makes sense. Last chance to photograph 34007, one of Mr Bulleids dream machines.

 

Within the next five years there's some exciting locos returning back to steam.

Update on 75079

Work continues on 75079,

Front and rear sand boxes have now been bolted up.
Sand pipes are being made
Sand steam injectors are being overhaul and fitted
Vacuum pipes are being made and installed on the loco
Steam pipes are being made
Cladding is now being painted and will be stored away
Injector brackets have been removed from the loco frames to be repaired
Rear axle box ash shields are being made
Running plate work is being painted
Tender frames have now arrived at Ropley

There are lots more bits being made on and off site

 

New issue of The Railway Magazine reports that Cheltenham will be going into BR lined Green in 2017.

 

Probably ties in nicely with her 5 year intermediate.......... just as we have ourselves a rake of Bulleid coaches in Southern livery!

 

Apparently her current livery is getting a bit worn out so the MHR intend to refresh it next year according to the report.

 

is this BR Livery going to be BR Mixed Traffic or BR Green like Repton? (I've just realized i am about to start a livery debate

 

It says BR Lined Passenger green which according to my search is this livery:


I guess the grime will be optional!

True, but believe it or not by 2017, 925 will have been in traffic for 5 years.................

If 30925 is going to be repainted then I wouldn't mind seeing it facing out of Alresford for a change. I did hear some people calling for 30925 to be painted in Black and with the earlier BR emblem.

 

quick question. have any of the preserved schools been in BR Lined Black livery in preservation?

 

J*s@s wept! Pound-for-pound undoubtedly the finest passenger engine ever to run in Britain, and people want to paint it black!

I doubt it will be.............

The 9F, Ivatt, black 5, & Std 4 are all black, so for a splash of colour (!) I can see her being in BR green.

 

i argeed with Duty Druid with the splash of colour in Ropley. Cheltenham is a Passenger Engine after all. I asked the question about a BR Black School in preservation more of curiosity then anything else.

Just to add a bit of spice what about renaming it to 30901 Winchester.

 

wouldn't that require permission from the NRM and, if i remember correctly, they're not keen on the idea of renaming their locos
