No, I have asked that question previously. Its a dam shame as I think BR Blue would suit the engine well..... although maybe a bit to close to Gordon for most peoples liking!!

Jesus - give them a chance to stick her in the overhaul queue first!

For 850 to go into BR green would be a most refreshing change - IIRC she's been in Southern green for all if not most of preservation.......

I suspect not - I can't think of any other obvious examples if the Urie S15s haven't yet. LBSCR Goods Green is another livery we are unlikely to see, since I think IoWSR livery policy wouldn't ever see their E1 in that livery.

As for the C class: never say never, but she has seen the bright lights of the big city now and might prefer to keep up her glamorous image ;). Certainly can't imagine it will happen on this ticket, which hasn't got much longer to go.

Wouldn't be NP without a livery debate..... I think you will find shes been in Malachite since around 1978 - 79 when she was restored at Carnforth (there is a picture of her being towed to Carnforth in 1977 still in BR green.

    I know! ;)

I've just been looking back at some old photo's of mine...... one set that stands out is when she did the long drag 25.02.84............ 4472 took the train to Hellifield :):):) - 850 took over........ slowest ascent I've ever had - resulted in NOT having the obligatory 3 run pasts at Appleby as she'd lost so much time! :(

Any idea when the boiler for 75079 might be entering the works? I guess if the deal to get Nellie done is inked, then it could be a little while yet.

Yes, 828 originally entered service in July 1927 in black with green lining. Repainted to green with black & white lining during works visit in July 1931.
(Details are from the records of George Woodward and Tony Sedgwick held by Bournemouth Railway Circle.)
Please note that the members of Eastleigh Railway Preservation Society have already voted that 828 will return to service in Maunsell lined green livery.

    Cheers, Neil

I think we may have already gathered that, given the shade of green being applied to various bits! ;) :)

BTW when is she likely to return to traffic?...... as I forget.....

Some of us would like to see her on other railways, regardless of direction!

Indeed, immediately prior to mainline test runs in March 2007. Think it was up for air brake etc comissioning at Rileys.

Surprised the MHR website isn't publicising Saturday's final appearance of Wadebridge in public service for some time. It would surely bring extra punters in? I'm assuming this is still happening? Anyone got any idea which other loco will be out and about that day?

Any news of whether 34007 is running this weekend? MHR website roster hasn't been updated and they have only updated faceache with news of the blue engine.

    Thanks.
I was just checking she was fit for service and they hadn't knackered her on the photo charter.
The lack of updates by the MHR site wasn't encouraging. I would have thought they would be promoting a mini S & D event this weekend to say farewell to 34007. At least the MHR will be running a 9F in the right colour
