With the announced changes to the SVR 'ASG' (see other thread), I thought I would start this one about the planned November event. Still early days but
PS can we keep any discussions about the ASG/Pacific Power weekend to the other thread, please?

So that's likely to be; 1450, 1501 and 4566 plus visitors. Will we see 813 and 7714 make an appearance? Sounds good to me.

4566 is due to go out of traffic this year so it will depend on whether it can hang around long enough.
813 and 7714 are expected this year. Last I heard first half for 813 and late summer for 7714, thus a bit of leeway.

I would expect both 7714 and 813 to be available by then, with the usual caveats. Likely to be a last chance to ride behind 4566 too with its ticket expiring late this year

It's been pointed out to me that this overlaps with Bonfire Night...So maybe some late night running to join up with it?
I've sent an email to the feedback address about it.

I like the idea of 30585. A bodmin/Wadebridge style gala would be good especially if 4566 is still around and 7714 is available. Get one or both of the beatties in and perhaps City of Wells and the T9 back again and in my books you have a surefire enthusiasts treat.

How about a bit of a South Wales/valleys theme as 813 will be reappearing. TVR 85 from kwvr, a 56xx and 4247 from Bodmin? Alongside 4566, 7714, 1450 and 1501 the ability to haul all feasible train lengths is covered.

Sounds like you should be going to the DFR July steam gala if you want to see a T9, a 0298 tank and a Prairie in action!

One clue of course is a tank engine gala ! I think a lot should be made of 4566's appearance bring possibly its last . 1450 on the auto's is a joy and especially when you can change trains at Bewdley and catch the auto

Depending on potential visitors a theme is always good but potential visiting locos are at a premium . Early starts and running into the evening would be nice

A NBI issued today (which has now been posted on FB and on the SVR forum so is public domain) says the Gala committee will look into the possibility of overnight running at the Season Finale Gala.

I know what about a West Midlands BR (W) gala with maybe a certain Castle class and a BR liveried Pannier from down the road in Brum with other appropriate "Snow Hill to Kiddy" locos add maybe a reunion of Stourbridge and KD enginemen and just think of the timewarp that could be created. I know its orobably too obvious to use what we already have as the main ingredients but seems to make a lot of sense to me?

That would certainly make it more tempting.

I'm not sure of dates BUT if 1966 saw the last of West Midlands steam wouldn't this be a nice theme to hang some visiting Tyseley locos with a 50 years End of West Midlands Steam theme ? Given the loss of steam running this year I'm sure that their Class 47 could usefully haul some runners with the possibility of running a connecting railtour using DBS crews from Tyseley to Oxford returning to Kidderminster with a DMU connection forward to Tyseley.

    Hello,
It is hoped that GWR 813 will be ready for this Gala!
Work on the overhaul was recommended earlier in March.
813 will then be available for Hire over the next 10 years....!
