A curious question and one that it is unlikely anyone on here will be able to answer.

ok thanks, it just struck me that few if any of Carnfoths home fleet have been operated by DBS, and before accepting any loco would DBS want to see records of maintaince as well as the FTR ? so that its satified that any engine operated by its crews meets a set standard ? i would hope that all engines on NR do meet the same standard no matter who maintains them.

It would be rather odd (and commercially insane) to have your own TOC and then pay another one to operate your locomotives?

A message from Steam Dreams: ''The Cathedrals Express'. Our next trip is on Saturday 1 April 2016.''

No mention of the KX to Lincoln train on the 17th March (cancelled?)

''Our next trip is on Saturday 1 April 2016.'' .....possibly the Saturday, 2nd. <BJ>

This has just been posted on the unofficial WSR website (wsr.org.uk):

"We understand the planned excursion to the West Somerset Railway on 27 May 2016 operated by Steam Dreams has been cancelled. This train was due to be hauled by the celebrated LNER 4-6-2 no 60103 Flying Scotsman and would have been the first visit to the Minehead Branch by this world famous locomotive. The cancellation is due to blockades on the main line at Bristol around that date. Clearly both Steam Dreams and the WSR are disappointed with this decision."

Also, SD have started adding some new tours to their website for the summer/autumn, mainly using Mayflower and Britannia.

That's interesting. No other operator reliant on WCRC has posted up any new tours since the prohibition notice and what is more, Mayflower is vac only (unless part of the work being done to it at Carnforth at the moment includes the fitting of air brakes), so this suggests SD is hopeful of a positive resolution to the WCRC prohibtion notice before too long. Anyway, we shall see.

Have read that 60103 will not be coming to Taunton/WSR on May 28th due to blockades in Bristol area. Does anyone know if to tour to bath on the same day is still running or cancelled ?

I am sorry but that is just silly at the moment. They are going to p-off a lot of people if the trips don't run.
To be honest I have lost interest in SD trips and didn't even bother renewing my membership this year.

So when do we think is our next steam tour is: I see Tangmere, 2nd April Euston to Chester managed to survive as a possible, so will it be that one?

I'm not banking on it, tho it would be ironic if it was bad boy Tangmere first up

If I were WCRC I'd be first looking to get everything out of 10A tickety boo before worrying about anywhere else. Next would come Fort William.

If you were WCRC you wouldn't have been in this situation.
