Both GWR 3817 and BR 76080 were cut up at Barry in the 1970's Did their tenders survive or were they also cut up?

There seems to be some confusion as to whether 76080 had a tender by the time it was cut up. This photo dated July 1970 shows a tender (though we can't see the locos number so we have to assume it has been correctly identified by the photographer)

However in a thread on 76077 a while back it was stated that its had lost its tender.

A picture of 76080 being cut up is here. Don't be misled by the 3 wheelsets on the right these are wagon wheels. BR tender wheels were spoked.

The few pictures I've seen of 3817 show it with a tender, I'd just like to know if the tender survived

I fear its going to be very hard to find out. Tenders at Barry had identification plates removed, records of tender swaps stopped being kept in the last days of WR steam, and at least some locomotives went to the scrapyard with different tenders to the ones they last ran with. Quite a number of ex Barry Tenders have not been reliably identified in spite of hard work by Justin Edwards of VCT. A very few of the surviving tenders have unusual features. Post a good clear side on photo and might get lucky.

I remember a photo of 3817 being cut up, with tender still attached.

75014, 76017, 76077 76079, 76080, 76084 all went to Barry with BR2 or 2A tenders; 75014 and 76017 both had theirs removed in 1969 and were sold to Britton Ferry Steel Works as ingot carriers.

76017 left Barry in 1974 as the 46 departure and as her BR2 tender (and motion etc) were gone so the 2A tender behind 76077 was acquired, next out was 76079 (59th to leave) later in 1974 this time with her last BR tender still attached. Next was 75014 (121st to leave) and was acquired without a tender and moved to the NYMR where 76080 ex-Barry tender (specifically the frames) had been purchased for use with another (non BR std, possibly 34027?) loco. 75014 owner(s) later purchased this tender. 76084 and her tender were sold and left Barry in 1983 (143rd to depart) leaving 76077 as the 186 escapee, albeit tenderless to the G&WR in 1987.

    76080 was cut in 1972.

Only six BR2/2a tenders went to Woodhams

75014 original BR2 tender No838 (Cut up at Barry/Britton Ferry)
76017 original BR2 tender No931 (Cut up at Barry/Britton Ferry)
76077 original BR2A tender No1462 (Now behind 76017 and converted to BR2 style)
    76079 original BR2A tender No1464 (still behind 76079)
76080 original BR2A tender No1465 (now behind 75014 and converted to BR2 style)
    76084 original BR2A tender No1469 (still behind 78084)

    Old Chap,

Many thanks for that. I have photos in 1980 of a loose BR2 at Barry and as the other ones are accounted for it would make sense that this was from 76080.

I'm wondering if two of the three inner fireboxes in my shot here belong to 3817 and 76080 -

wasn't there a clause in their sale from BR requiring the copper fireboxes to be returned?

I wonder what the third Inner Firebox was from?. I had thought of 4156 - none of the three were from 92085. If all three were there in 1978, then 4156 is out of the equation...

There may have only been two there in 1978, they were right at the top of the yard, near where 7200 was standing at the time.

I wonder if anyone else can confirm?. I made a few visits from September '79, until March '80, before I took the picture in 1985, I never noticed them before then.
